We build shared AI foundations that enable teams across the Bank to deliver AI solutions faster, more safely and at scale.\nOur platform provides a “paved road” for AI delivery, bringing together seamless access to AI models and infrastructure, a consistent Agent HUB to build, deploy and manage production-ready AI agents, reusable AI capabilities (such as knowledge management and document intelligence), and built-in controls including guardrails, evaluation and monitoring to support responsible adoption.\nYou’ll design, develop, test, deploy and support production-grade services covering agent execution, workflow orchestration, memory, context, MCP integrations, policy enforcement and platform APIs.\nA move across the business allows you to continue to access tailored professional development opportunities, and our fantastic benefits packages.\nIn this role, you will:\nDesign and develop backend services for:Agent runtimes and execution.\nWorkflow orchestration and state management.\nTool and function calling.\nPrompt, model and workflow management.\nMemory and context management using technologies such as Redis.\nRetrieval-augmented generation.\nAgent triggers and platform APIs.\n\nDevelop and integrate Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers, MCP gateways and agent tools.\nBuild event-driven and workflow-based capabilities using Temporal, Google Cloud Pub/Sub and BigQuery.\nDesign persistence and data services using PostgreSQL, Redis and BigQuery.\nEvaluate and integrate suitable frameworks and components developed by other HSBC teams.\nUse frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph, LlamaIndex or equivalent technologies where they provide clear value, while avoiding unnecessary framework or vendor lock-in.\nContribute to backend reference architectures, reusable patterns and engineering standards.\nTo be successful in this role you should have the following skills:\nSignificant experience in backend, software or platform engineering using Python and Go, as well as Kubernetes, Docker & CI/CD\nExperience designing and operating distributed, microservice-based systems\nStrong understanding of APIs, event-driven architecture, workflow orchestration and cloud-native engineering.\nExperience with one or more of:Generative AI and LLMs.\nAgentic systems.\nMCP.\nRAG.\nTool or function calling.\nPrompt and workflow management.\n\nExperience with Redis, PostgreSQL, Temporal, Pub/Sub or BigQuery is advantageous.\nExperience deploying and supporting AI products in production is preferred; production experience with non-AI platforms is essential.\nBeing open to different points of view is important for our business and the communities we serve.
