We aim to be where the growth is, enabling businesses to thrive and economies to prosper, and, ultimately, helping people to fulfil their hopes and realise their ambitions.\nWe are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Consultant Specialist\nIn this role, you will:\nDesign and build high-concurrency, low-latency and resilient backend services that support business-critical customer and colleague journeys.\nDevelop and maintain distributed systems architecture using event-driven and microservices-based design patterns.\nEngineer real-time event processing pipelines using Kafka to support voice, transcription and workflow orchestration use cases.\nImplement and optimise Redis for distributed caching, session state management and fast data access across services.\nDesign effective MongoDB data models for contact, session and configuration domains, ensuring scalability, maintainability and performance.\nBuild and operate cloud-native solutions on Amazon Web Services, including compute, networking, secrets management and messaging capabilities.\nApply strong engineering practices across Application Programming Interface design, resilience, monitoring, observability and production support.\nWork closely with architecture, voice engineering and cross-functional technology teams to deliver reliable platforms that can be adopted quickly and scaled confidently.\nSkills & Experience\nProven expertise in designing and delivering high-availability distributed systems in complex enterprise environments.\nStrong backend engineering capability in Java and Spring Boot, or equivalent technologies used to build scalable service-based platforms.\nHands-on experience with Kafka for streaming architectures and event-driven processing in near real-time environments.\nStrong knowledge of Redis for caching, distributed coordination and low-latency application design.\nSolid experience with MongoDB, including document modelling, query optimisation and performance tuning.\nGood understanding of Amazon Web Services and cloud-native engineering principles, including secure deployment and operational scalability.\nStrong knowledge of resilience patterns, system observability, incident troubleshooting and production engineering best practices.\nAbility to contribute quickly in a hands-on specialist role, partnering effectively with technical stakeholders and driving delivery with minimal supervision.\nYou’ll achieve more when you join HSBC.\nwww.hsbc.com/careers\nHSBC is committed to building a culture where all employees are valued, respected and opinions count.
