At HSBC, we also see this as an opportunity to develop early-career talent for future roles.\nKey Responsibilities\nDuring the placement, the trainee will provide day-to-day support to the FX team, with appropriate supervision. Responsibilities will include:\nForeign-exchange product and transaction support\nSupport the administration and coordination of foreign-exchange products and related client requests.\nAssist with the processing and monitoring of routine FX transactions in accordance with approved procedures.\nReview transaction instructions, trade details and supporting documentation for completeness and accuracy.\nSupport the coordination of spot, forward, swap and other FX-related activities, where applicable.\nMonitor transaction status, settlement requirements and outstanding actions.\nLiaise with relevant teams to ensure transactions are processed and completed on time.\nIdentify errors, exceptions, blockers or delays early and escalate them appropriately.\nMaintain accurate records of FX transactions, client instructions and follow-up actions.\nClient and stakeholder coordination\nSupport responses to routine enquiries from clients, relationship managers, sales teams and internal stakeholders.\nCoordinate information and documentation requests across Sales, Trading, Operations, Treasury, Product, Risk and Compliance teams.\nPrepare clear updates on transaction status, settlement requirements, client instructions and outstanding items.\nMaintain professional communication and ensure queries are tracked through to resolution.\nAssist with preparing meeting notes, action logs, service updates and transaction summaries.\nSupport effective coordination between front-office, middle-office and back-office teams.\nFX reporting and management information\nMaintain accurate FX trackers, transaction records, client-service logs and activity reports.\nProduce weekly or monthly reports on transaction volumes, client activity, product usage, service requests and outstanding items.\nSupport basic analysis of FX activity, volumes and operational performance to identify trends and areas for improvement.\nHelp monitor key performance indicators, transaction-processing timelines and service-level requirements.\nHighlight overdue actions, upcoming priorities, settlement issues and potential operational risks.\nHelp translate FX activity and service performance into clear updates for team and management review.\nAssist with preparing dashboards, presentations and management information.\nMarket and business support\nSupport the collection and organisation of relevant FX market, product and client information.\nAssist with preparing summaries of market developments and their potential relevance to clients or the business.\nSupport the preparation of client, product and business updates under appropriate supervision.\nHelp organise information relating to currency pairs, product activity, client requirements and market trends.\nContribute to initiatives focused on improving client experience, product understanding and transaction efficiency.\nProcess, governance and controls support\nCoordinate documentation and approval requests in line with internal requirements.\nSupport checks on client, transaction and settlement information to help ensure completeness and accuracy.\nMaintain organised records and audit trails for FX transactions, client requests and operational activities.\nFollow applicable risk, compliance, anti-money laundering, data-handling and information-security requirements.\nSupport reconciliation, confirmation, settlement, control-checking and exception-monitoring activities where applicable.\nAssist with monitoring unmatched, failed, amended or outstanding transactions.\nEscalate questions, control concerns or exceptions to the appropriate FX, Operations, Risk, Compliance or control team.\nProcess improvement and team support\nIdentify opportunities to improve FX transaction processes, reporting and stakeholder communication.\nSupport the documentation of procedures, recurring issues, lessons learned and best practices.\nAssist with streamlining trackers, reporting templates and recurring team activities.\nParticipate in team meetings, training sessions and process-improvement initiatives.\nWork collaboratively with colleagues across FX Sales, Trading, Operations, Treasury, Product, Risk, Compliance, relationship management and client-service functions.\nDemonstrate accountability, attention to detail and a commitment to delivering reliable client service.\nRequirements\nCandidate must be currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline;
