As an Underwriting Assistant, you will support our underwriters in their day-to-day tasks. Working as part of a team, you are responsible for the efficiency and accuracy of insurance policy documents.\nThis is hybrid position with the standard of 3 days in our offices.\nResponsibilities\nThis position will:\nDevelop and maintain excellent relationships with underwriters and brokers through verbal and written communication\nProcess and issue documents as instructed by underwriters and managers with a high degree of accuracy\nMeet service standards and turnaround times with respect to issuance of documents\nDocument observations made during pre-reviews of files to assist underwriters\nComplete renewal pre-reviews and may approve renewal referrals within authority\nPerform underwriting support functions including bind confirmations and preparing Certificates of Insurance\nAmend or update quotes based on instructions of underwriters\nCoordinate with underwriting areas to research and resolve escalated underwriting issues\nSupport managers, underwriters, and coworkers with general administrative tasks\nMaintain and innovate administrative workflow procedures to increase efficiency and productivity\nCommunicate internally with other departments via email, Microsoft Teams, and telephone\nCommunicate externally with brokers as required\nBuild and maintain electronic, and any applicable hard copy, records following established guidelines and processes\nQualifications\nYou’re a good fit if you have:\nAt least 1-2 years of experience with transferable skills in customer service, administration, or insurance\nAbility and willingness to obtain a broker license (Level 1) within the first year of employment\nOpen to or currently pursuing an insurance designation (CIP or CAIB preferred)\nWilling to take insurance courses for continued growth and industry knowledge\nFamiliarity with basic legal structures in Canada\nExcellent typing proficiency and strong communication skills\nIntermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Outlook, Word, and Excel\nTechnical competency with office equipment including printers and scanners\nBenefits\nBy joining HUB International, you’ll become part of a rapidly growing company focused on providing innovative insurance solutions to support independent brokers in Canada.
