This role is intended for engineers with relevant mining experience who have obtained, or are in the process of obtaining, their Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation and are capable of independently delivering engineering work within their assigned area.\nDepending on business needs and individual experience, the Mine Engineer may be assigned to one or more of the following functional roles:\nDrill & Blast: Develop and optimize blast designs including timing, wall control, powder factor optimization, and fragmentation performance.\nShort Range Planning: Prepare and maintain weekly and monthly mine plans, dig limits, and near-term sequencing to support production targets.\nLong Range Planning: Develop medium- and long-term mine designs, phase development strategies, and production schedules aligned with business objectives.\nGeotechnical Engineering: Support slope design implementation, ground control monitoring, and geotechnical risk management.\nDispatch Engineering: Support fleet management systems, analyze production data, report KPIs, and identify opportunities for productivity optimization.\nProduction Engineering: Conduct operational performance analysis, support continuous improvement initiatives, and lead assigned mine engineering projects.\nMine Survey: Coordinate with survey team to support surface mapping, volume reconciliation, and data integration for mine planning, production reporting and month end reconciliation.\nRole Accountabilities:\nEnsure engineering work and mine plans comply with company standards and regulatory requirements.\nProvide engineering support through mine design, planning, analysis, and field engagement.\nDevelop and maintain mine designs, schedules, forecasts, and supporting technical documentation.\nCollaborate with technical and operational teams to support planning, decision-making, and business objectives.\nPerform other duties as required to support the objectives of the Mine Engineering department.\nQualifications:\nBachelor’s Degree in Mining or Geotechnical Engineering\nRegistered or eligible for registration with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC) \n3 - 6 years of progressive experience in open pit mining operations or mine engineering roles\nWorking knowledge of open pit mining methods, mine planning principles, and production processes.\nPossess a validClass 5 British Columbia driver’s license and have access to personal transportation\nOther skills:\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.\nExperience using industry-standard mine planning, scheduling, or data analysis software (Deswik experience is considered an asset, Minesight, Surpac etc. are acceptable)\nDetail and results-oriented with the ability to manage competing priorities\nStrong organizational, prioritization, and time management skills\nEffective written and verbal communication skills.\nAbility to work collaboratively with other team members in a positive manner\nCommitment to safety, teamwork, and operational excellence\nProficiency with Microsoft Office applications \nWorking Conditions:\nWork involves a set work schedule on-site at Copper Mountain Mine and depending on the role and may consist of:\n4X3 rotation, 10-hour days.\n7X7 rotation - 12 Hours days (Not Camp Position)\nExposure to conditions associated with a mine site environment including noise, dust, and varying weather conditions.\nRegular office-based computer work.\nWork includes lifting or moving up to 50 lbs\nWork is conducted in a team environment with regularlyscheduled and ad-hoc meetings\nCompensation & Benefits:\nAt Hudbay we pride ourselves in providing our employees with a competitive total rewards package.\nExpected Compensation: $106,470 - $118,300 per year\nHudbay gives back to the community with its employee charity matching program for eligible charitable donations made by employees\nRegular performance appraisals to acknowledge our employees for their contributions, strengths and work well done\nComprehensive Benefits Package with RRSP Match and Annual Bonus.\nVacancy Status: This posting is for an existing vacancy.\nAI Disclosure: Artificial Intelligence is not used to screen, assess, or select applicants; however, Hudbay may use automation for administrative processes.\nNotice to Candidates & Fraud Alert\n\nOur Recruitment Process & Accessibility\nWe sincerely appreciate the time and effort you put into your application.
