Our Pioneer model is full-fidelity: hardware, connectivity, and platform access installed and supported in the classroom.\nWhere You'd Be Working\nHuddle's full-fidelity program is based in the Western Cape, in the Cape Town area and surrounds, primarily in Metro East and Metro South schools, with hopes to grow beyond that in time. Huddle's office is based in Pinelands, Cape Town.\nScale\nNext year, Huddle will have technology deployed across 13-16 schools, roughly 112 classrooms, each equipped with a laptop, projector, and soundbar or speaker set, with a fleet of tablets potentially added on top. One additional school will house 3 dedicated R&D test classrooms for piloting new tech ahead of wider rollout.\nPurpose\nThis role owns day-to-day internal IT administration, contractor and vendor management, school tech deployment, first-line technical support, R&D. A separate IT Strategist consulting engagement sets DevSecOps direction; this role will help to carry out that work operationally.\nReports to: Head of Operations\nEmployment type: Full-time\nCore Responsibilities\nInternal IT & policy\nGoogle Workspace admin (provisioning, deprovisioning, permissions, groups)\nTech stack and subscription management (tool approval, renewals, spend visibility)\nManage and maintain platform permissions and access rights\nImplementing the device policy for the internal team (BYOD-appropriate)\nInternal security support for the team: 2FA enforcement, endpoint protection, data handling hygiene\nSupport & escalation\nFirst-line support for internal tech issues\nSecond-line troubleshooting where within capability, escalating deeper platform or infrastructure issues\nTrack and manage issues through to completion\nContractor & vendor management\nDay-to-day management of IT-related contractors and vendors\nSource new vendors as required\nOperational point of contact for the external dev/platform team\nSchool tech\nHands-on rollout and on-site troubleshooting of classroom tech\nOwn vehicle required; travel reimbursed at the SARS prescribed rate\nTrack installations, maintain site logs and documentation\nCoordinate with WCED IT or other connectivity/internet vendors as needed to resolve school-side network issues\nR&D\nField testing of new deployment approaches and tech\nOwn the feedback loop: observe, test, improve, document\nKPIs / Success Measures\nCall-out rate per classroom: reduced\nVendor-delivered installs on schedule and passing QA\nReduced cost of fit-for-purpose tech kit in classrooms\nTicket turnaround (1st/2nd line) within agreed SLA\nSite logs and asset register kept current\nFirst 90 Days\nExact scope depends on start date, but installations for the new school year will be underway in January regardless of when this role is filled, so most of the following will apply in some form:\nManage the installation rollout across schools new to the program next year, plus additional classroom installs at existing schools (fleet management)\nEnsure device setup is completed in coordination with internal support and contractors\nDrive toward 100% classroom readiness ahead of the January program start date\nSupport the team on the ground through Start Strong, ensuring adequate on-site support during the start of the school year\nOwn upskilling of on-the-ground field agents on basic troubleshooting, so small issues can be resolved on site rather than escalated or handled by coordinating a teacher remotely\n(Bonus) Work with the IT Strategist to define the ongoing DevSecOps interface and cadence\nRequirements\nMust-haves\nIT certification or equivalent hands-on experience\nHands-on experience with hardware or AV installation (cabling, mounting, device setup and configuration)\nOwn vehicle, valid driver's licence\nComfortable travelling independently to schools across a range of areas, including townships, as part of regular fieldwork\nComfortable operating independently without a dedicated IT function to plug into\nNice-to-haves\nProficient at performing classroom tech installations independently, rather than learning on the job\nExperience in education or low-bandwidth environments\nExperience working alongside an outsourced dev/engineering function\nDevSecOos Interest, aptitude or experience is a plus for the right candidate\nBenefits\nSalary: We pay competitive market related salaries to attract top talent.
