Preform all patient care activities for cast and post-op care.\nPOSITION RESPONSIBILITIES\nEscort patients as necessary from the waiting area to the cast room and/or DME area for analysis of needs.\nRemove and apply casts, both fiberglass, plaster and other appliances as needed.\nAssist in fracture reductions and minor surgical procedures as well as remove sutures, staples, and apply bandages.\nClean and sterilize instruments and equipment.\nStock and maintain workspaces.\nAssist with supply, DME ordering, inventory activities, receiving etc. and in always maintaining appropriate inventory levels.\nDeliver DME products to area hospitals as needed.\nObtain authorization for custom braces and all DME prescribed for worker's compensation patients.\nReview DME receipts to ensure billing of items daily.\nResponsible for patient care activities such as determining proper DME sizing and fitting items when needed.\nWork DME hold buckets in workflow dashboard in Athena throughout the day.\nEnsure DME orders and procedure documentation is complete prior to issuing DME.\nAssist in properly and accurately dispensing pre-packed medications to patients as directed by Physician.\nTriage cast patients with problems in absence of physician if necessary.\nProvide back-up support in performing Medical Assistant duties when necessary (if applicable).\nPOSITION REQUIREMENTS\nExperience:\nRequired:\nOne (1) year Orthopaedic healthcare experience.\nPreferred:\nOne (1) year of Ortho Tech or two (2) years casting experience.\nEducation:\nRequired:\nHigh School Diploma or equivalent.\nPreferred:\nCompletion of an accredited Orthopaedic specialist training program.\nSpecial Qualifications:\nRequired:\nValid Driver’s License, satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR) and proof of insurance required for position on-boarding.\nAnnual MVR may be required per policy and procedure; background reports may be ran as needed throughout the course of employment.\nBasic Life Support (BLS) Certification (American Heart Association or American Red Cross).\nMust have the ability to work independently.\nMust have a working knowledge of HIPAA requirements.\nMust have knowledge of fracture care coding along with CPT and ICD-10 codes.\nMust possess excellent computer skills.\nThe Hughston Clinic, The Hughston Foundation, The Hughston Surgical Center, Hughston Clinic Orthopaedics, Hughston Medical, Hughston Orthopaedics Trauma, Hughston Orthopaedics Southeast and Jack Hughston Memorial Hospital participate in E-Verify.
