You will play an important part in the month-end close process for multiple Medicaid plans, completing work according to Humana's close schedule. You will report to the Lead Accountant, General Accounting with responsibilities including preparing journal entries, reconciling ledger accounts, reviewing financial results against budget or forecast, and contributing to the forecasting process.This role is ideal for an accounting professional who enjoys analyzing complex financial data, solving problems, and partnering across teams. You will work with moderately complex accounting issues that require critical thinking and the ability to evaluate multiple factors. If you are a proactive problem-solver who enjoys combining accounting, analysis, and collaboration, we encourage you to consider this opportunity.\nDay-to-day responsibilities:\nPrepare journal entries using data from the data warehouse, including query-based or coded data pulls.\nRecord, analyze, and report accounting transactions while ensuring records are accurate, complete, and compliant with accounting policies and principles.\nSupport designated provider and vendor payment processes.\nAssist with forecasting, budgeting, variance analysis, and reviewing financial results against budget.\nHelp prepare and present financial results, key insights, and variance explanations to market partners.\nSupport state reporting requirements, audit requests, and other business needs.\nAssist with IT-related projects.\n\nUse your skills to make an impact\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor's degree in accounting or a finance-related area.\n1 or more years of experience in accounting, finance\nDemonstrated experience in Excel\nPreferred Qualifications\nPrior SQL or coding experience.\nHealth insurance or Medicaid experience.\nExperience as an IT programmer\nCertified Public Accountant (CPA) license or active pursuit of CPA certification.\nAdditional Information\nLocation: Louisville, KY priority \nWorkstyle: Hybrid office, required to come into office 2 days per week on Tue/Wed.\nSchedule: Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm EST\nReporting structure: In this role you will report to an Accounting Lead.\nScheduled Weekly Hours\n40Pay Range\nThe compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting.
