Humana's Enterprise Quality Engineering organization transforms how software quality is engineered across the enterprise. We are building an AI-native quality engineering ecosystem that combines intelligent platforms, enterprise knowledge, automation, and agentic AI to change how software is designed, tested, released, and improved.The Principal Software Engineer, Intelligent Quality Solutions is a senior individual contributor responsible for building enterprise capabilities that support this transformation. This is a hands-on engineering role for an experienced technology leader who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, building production-ready software, and converting latest AI technologies into scalable enterprise solutions.
You will engineer intelligent applications and AI-enabled services. You will also develop reusable frameworks and autonomous agents. These components serve as the foundation of the Enterprise Quality Intelligence Platform and the broader Enterprise Quality Engineering ecosystem.
Your success requires deep software engineering expertise, demonstrated experience building AI-powered applications in production, and a strong passion for experimentation, innovation, and continuous learning.
Responsibilities
- Develop AI-powered software solutions for Enterprise Quality Engineering.
- Develop intelligent applications, AI services, APIs, and reusable frameworks.
- Create and enhance AI agents that improve software testing, quality, and engineering productivity.
- Build scalable, secure, and production-ready enterprise software.
- Integrate AI capabilities into software development and quality engineering processes.
- Evaluate latest AI technologies and prototype solutions.
- Provide technical leadership, architecture guidance, and mentorship across engineering projects.
- Partner with engineering, architecture, product, security, and data teams to create enterprise solutions.
- Establish best practices for AI development, governance, security, and observability.
- Help shape the long-term AI and quality engineering strategy.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Engineering, or a related field.
- 12 or more years of experience designing and building enterprise software applications, services, or platforms.
- Hands-on experience designing, developing, deploying, and supporting AI-powered software applications in production environments.
- Demonstrated experience building applications that use large language models, generative AI, agentic AI, machine learning, or modern AI orchestration frameworks.
- Strong software engineering expertise across cloud-native architectures, APIs, distributed systems, modern design patterns, and secure software development.
- Experience building scalable enterprise platforms or reusable enterprise capabilities.
- Experience integrating AI capabilities into enterprise software products, platforms, or engineering workflows.
- Proven success working in innovative, experimentation-driven engineering environments where rapid prototyping, continuous learning, and technical curiosity are core to team success.
- Demonstrated ability to independently lead complex technical initiatives from concept through production implementation.
- Strong understanding of DevOps, CI/CD, observability, engineering governance, and software lifecycle management.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence technical direction across multiple teams and communicate effectively with both technical and executive stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience building multi-agent or agentic AI systems.Experience with Azure OpenAI, OpenAI, Anthropic Claude, Google Gemini, or equivalent enterprise AI platforms.
- Experience with retrieval-augmented generation, vector databases, semantic search, prompt engineering, and AI orchestration frameworks.
- Experience developing enterprise developer platforms, internal engineering products, or reusable engineering frameworks.
- Experience working in healthcare, financial services, insurance, or another highly regulated industry.
- Familiarity with responsible AI practices, AI governance, model risk management, data privacy, and security considerations for enterprise AI solutions.

The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.$156,600 - $215,400 per yearThis job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan.
