You will build test boards, help integrate hardware on the bench and on the vehicle, and support our staff engineers on existing designs. You will work hands-on with real hardware from your first week.\nThe person who fills this role would primarily work from Humble Robotics’ San Francisco office 5 days a week. We aim to create an in office environment that fosters a collaborative, generative atmosphere where the team can build together. \nWhat You'll Do\nDesign test boards in Altium: breakout boards, adapters, and simple fixtures for bench and vehicle tests.\n\nAssemble, solder, and rework boards; do first power-on and basic checks.\n\nHelp integrate hardware on test benches and vehicles with the hardware integration team: wiring, power-up, and troubleshooting.\n\nSupport staff engineers on existing designs: schematic updates, part selection and alternates, BOM updates, and design review preparation.\n\nRun bench tests with an oscilloscope, DMM, logic analyzer, and power supplies; record test results and known issues.\n\nWrite automation scripts in Python or other languages to automate tests and analyze test data.\n\nDocument your boards, test setups, and results so the team can use them after your internship.\n\nWhat You Bring\nCurrently enrolled in a degree program in Electrical Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.\n\nHands-on experience with Altium Designer: schematic capture and PCB layout of at least one board.\n\nCoursework in Circuit Theory and Embedded Electronics; able to read schematics and datasheets.\n\nComfortable with an oscilloscope, DMM, and bench power supply; able to solder through-hole and surface-mount parts.\n\nAt least one hands-on electrical project from coursework, a student team, a personal project, or a prior internship.\n\nEligible to work in the United States.\n\nBonus Points\nExperience bringing up a custom PCB that you designed or assembled.\n\nStudent team experience that builds physical hardware (e.g., Formula SAE, Baja, robotics, solar car).\n\nFamiliarity with UART, SPI, I²C, andCAN.\n\nBasic Python or C/C++ for board bring-up and hardware testing.\n\nExposure to 12/24V vehicle electrical systems or wire harnesses.\n\nOur space is a fast-moving field, and we don't expect any one candidate to tick every box above. Salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location.
