We don’t believe culture can be engineered - but when it falls into place, it’s a once-in-a-lifetime adventure.\nProgress has never felt so present.\n\nAbout The Role\nThe Embedded team owns the embedded software on all of our microcontroller systems on our vehicles. You will develop safety-critical, real-time firmware for automotive ECUs, interfacing directly with steering, braking, propulsion, power distribution, sensor systems and body controls. You will work across the full firmware lifecycle, from board bring-up to production deployment, collaborating closely with hardware, software, systems, and safety engineering teams.\nThe person who fills this role would primarily work from Humble Robotics’ San Francisco office 5 days a week. We aim to create an in office environment that fosters a collaborative, generative atmosphere where the team can build together. \nWhat You'll Do\nDesign, implement and test real-time embedded firmware in C++ for automotive-grade microcontrollers\n\nDevelop reliable communication interfaces, including CAN, Ethernet, SPI, I2C, UART, etc.\n\nCollaborate with hardware engineers on board bring-up and hardware-software co-debugging\n\nRoot-cause both board-level and vehicle-level issues in the field\n\nSupport manufacturing test development and vehicle software deployment.\n\nWhat You Bring\nCurrently pursuing a BS or MS program in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field\n\nExperience writing C, C++ or Rust for microcontrollers\n\nGood understanding of embedded system fundamentals\n\nAbility to read schematics\n\nFamiliarity with Git and working in a Linux development environment\n\nEligible to work in the United States\n\nBonus Points\nPractical experience working on complex physical systems\n\nHands-on work with 32-bit ARM Cortex-M or Cortex-R microcontrollers\n\nComfortable using lab tools: oscilloscope, logic analyzer, multimeter, etc.\n\nFamiliarity with CAN or Ethernet\n\nInvolvement in student engineering project teams, such as Formula SAE, robotics clubs, etc.\n\nOur space is a fast-moving field, and we don't expect any one candidate to tick every box above. Salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location.
