early validation of new mechanical hardware for large autonomous vehicles.\nKey Responsibilities\nDesign, prototype, and validate mechanical systems and components for autonomous trucking platforms\n\nCreate detailed CAD models and engineering drawings for fabrication and assembly\n\nWork hands-on in the shop to build, modify, and test hardware\n\nCollaborate cross-functionally with electrical, software, and systems engineers\n\nSupport integration of sensors, compute hardware, and vehicle subsystems\n\nConduct root cause analysis and implement design improvements\n\nDevelop and execute test plans (bench and vehicle-level)\n\nManage parts sourcing, fabrication vendors, and assembly processes\n\nContribute to rapid iteration cycles and field deployments\n\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline\n\n2+ years of relevant industry or internship experience\n\nStrong hands-on experience with shop tools, including:\nManual mill and lathe\n\nLaser cutter\n\nPower tools (drills, grinders, etc.)\n\nProficiency in CAD (SolidWorks preferred)\n\nFamiliarity with GD&T and tolerance stack-ups\nExperience designing for manufacturability and assembly (DFM/DFA)\n\nAbility to build and test prototypes independently\n\nStrong problem-solving skills and attention to detail\n\nComfortable working in a fast-paced, ambiguous startup environment\n\nFamiliarity with sheet metal, machining, and rapid prototyping methods (3D printing, CNC, etc.)\n\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience working on large vehicles, or autonomous vehicles\n\nBasic understanding of electrical systems and sensor integration\n\nExperience with PLM/PDM systems\n\nFamiliarity with FEA or other simulation tools\n\nExperience supporting field testing or deployments\n\nStartup or small-team
