Expect regular virtual team events, strong ownership and accountability, and an annual company retreat.\nAbout the Role\nWe are seeking a Director of FP&A to own Hungryroot's financial planning, forecasting, performance reporting and serves as a strategic partner to the executive team. This role will report to the CFO and manage a team of FP&A analysts. \nYou'll have an opportunity to turn our rich customer and operational data into clear insights that shape how we grow, allocate capital, and improve unit economics. The ideal candidate will be able to work cross-functionally across a complex organization and be able to present to Senior Leadership, Board or Investors. At Hungryroot, we are all technical individual contributors in our respective fields and as such, this role requires a deep understanding of hands-on financial modeling and financial analytics.\nResponsibilities\nPlanning and Forecasting\nLead the annual operating plan and long-range plan, working with leaders across Growth, Product, Operations, Merchandising, and G&A\nOwn the monthly and quarterly forecast, including revenue, gross margin, contribution margin, opex, EBITDA, and cash\nBuild and maintain a driver-based financial model tied to customer cohorts, order frequency, basket size, and fulfillment costs\nPerformance Management and Reporting\nRun the monthly business review: actuals vs. plan and forecast, variance analysis, and clear recommendations\nPrepare board and investor materials with the CFO, including KPI dashboards and financial narratives\nDefine and track the KPIs that matter most: CAC, LTV, retention, AOV, and contribution margin per order\nStrategic Partnership\nAct as finance business partner to the executive team on pricing, marketing spend, new categories, and fulfillment network decisions\nLead ad hoc analyses and business cases for major investments and initiatives\nPartner with Marketing to measure channel ROI and guide budget allocation\nTeam and Infrastructure\nHire, develop, and mentor a high-performing FP&A team\nImprove planning tools, processes, and data infrastructure, working closely with Accounting and Data/Analytics\nStrengthen budget ownership and accountability across departments\nQualifications\n10+ years of experience in FP&A, investment banking, private equity, or corporate strategy, including 3+ years leading an FP&A function or team\nExpert financial modeling skills, including driver-based and cohort-based models\nDeep understanding of unit economics, P&L management, and the three financial statements\nA track record of influencing senior leaders and presenting to boards or investors\nExperience incorporating AI tools (Claude) into your workflow\nComfortable working directly with data teams and leveraging BI tools (e.g., Looker, Databricks)\nAdvanced experience with Microsoft Excel and GSuite (Google Sheets, Google Docs, etc.)\nExperience at a high-growth consumer, e-commerce, subscription, or CPG company\nClear, concise communication: you turn complex analysis into simple recommendations\nBachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field\nNice to Have\nExperience in grocery, food, meal kits, or a supply-chain-heavy business\nFamiliarity with marketplace or subscription economics, including cohort retention and LTV modeling\nExperience scaling FP&A through a major growth phase, fundraise, or IPO readiness\nMBA or CFA\nPerks & Benefits\nRemote-first: work from home, work from our NYC office, work from anywhere in the U.S. - you decide!\nEquity \nUnlimited vacation policy\nUniversal paid parental leave\nMonthly Hungryroot credit for delicious, healthy groceries\nComprehensive health, vision, dental, and life insurance\nWellbeing benefits \n401k with match\nA work from home stipend to support your initial home-office setup\nExpected Pay Range:\n$200,000 - $225,000\nBonus Eligible\nThe employer will not sponsor applicants for work visas.\nOur mission to help make healthy eating easy, accessible, and joyful is better served by a diverse workplace.
