What’s yours?\nPosition Overview\nThe Product Engineer I plays a critical role in designing, developing, testing, and implementing innovative product and component solutions that improve product performance, quality, manufacturability, and cost efficiency. This position partners closely with Product Management, Manufacturing, Operations, Purchasing, and Project Management teams to take concepts from prototype through production while driving continuous improvement initiatives across the business.\nWhat you'll do\nDesign, develop, and improve mechanical components, assemblies, and mechanisms for new product development and sustaining engineering projects.\nCreate and maintain detailed CAD models and engineering drawings using SolidWorks.\nConduct root cause investigations, analyze test and production data, and implement corrective actions for product quality and reliability issues.\nPerform design reviews, tolerance stack-up analyses, DFMEA assessments, and design verification testing to ensure product robustness and compliance.\nPrototype, validate, and optimize designs using rapid prototyping techniques, including 3D printing.\nCollaborate cross-functionally with Product Management, Manufacturing, Operations, Purchasing, and Project Management to support product development initiatives and production launches.\nReview and approve first article inspections while ensuring components and assemblies meet engineering specifications.\nIdentify and execute cost reduction opportunities through design improvements, material optimization, vendor qualification, and manufacturing enhancements.\nAll other duties as assigned\nWho you are\nBachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) required.\n3+ years of experience in product development, design engineering, manufacturing engineering, or a related mechanical engineering role.\nProficiency with 3D CAD software, preferably SolidWorks.\nStrong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, including statics, dynamics, mechanisms, and component design.\nExperience with plastic injection molding, engineered plastics, and extrusion-based product design.\nKnowledge of design validation methodologies including DFMEA, tolerance analysis, and statistical data analysis.\nExperience conducting root cause analysis and problem-solving using engineering and data-driven tools.\nFamiliarity with metrology equipment such as calipers, gauges, comparators, and vision systems.\nStrong project management, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.\nAbility to work effectively in both office and manufacturing environments while supporting prototype builds, testing, and production activities.\nWhat's in it for you?\nAnnual base salary range: $75,000- $85,000\nBonus target range: 10%\nGenerous benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life, disability\nA company culture that prioritizes internal development and professional growth\nTime off with pay \n401(k) plan with a degree of employer matching\nPaid parental leave\nWellness programs and product discounts\nPlease note, all offers presented to candidates are carefully crafted to ensure market competitiveness, equity, and reflect the individual candidate’s education, experience, skills and potential.\nHunter Douglas is an Equal Opportunity Employer and complies with applicable employment laws.
