This position is part of a team that and the candidate must be willing to embrace being a team player.\nDetailed Description:\nThis candidate will be filling an experienced systems mainframe engineer position. The candidate must have the following skills:\nAdvanced or expert level SMP/E experience\nDebugging and tuning experience\nCreation of detailed documentation of procedures and practices\nChange control in a regulated environment\nDevelop, document, and deliver pre- and post-implementation impacts of zSeries hardware and software\nRecognize areas of improvement leading to elimination of reoccurring issues and reduce mean time to recovery\nProvide technical direction and education to programmers, analysts and technical support associates\nProvides 24x7 on call support within a team rotation\nThis job is responsible for infrastructure tool/service designs within technical domains in accordance with architectural governance, standards and policies. Key responsibilities include facilitating deployment of tools/services by leading others in solution development, maintenance of templates, playbooks and automation used during implementation. Job expectations include demonstrating expertise within technical domains, decomposing issues or objectives into work units, advancing efficient solution delivery practices, and promoting exceptional design, engineering and organizational practices.\nConfirms that application and business requirements have been translated into technical definitions, reference models, blueprints, and playbooks to guide development and integration of technology solutions\nContributes to the creation/selection of functional and non-functional product evaluation requirements within and across domains\nReviews and may develop software solutions to address manual and repeatable work or inefficient processes\nReviews and guides the evaluation of reference models, blueprints, playbooks and the execution of on-site evaluations of third-party products being considered for firm adoption\nMentors and assists Infrastructure resources on infrastructure service along with application integration validation methods and tools to ensure that technology solutions comply with enterprise system design and engineering standards\nPromotes an inclusive and healthy working environment and help to resolve organizational impediments/blockers\nResponsible for components of complex engineering and/or analytical tasks and activities.\nServes as a seasoned/proficient technical resource; provides technical knowledge and capabilities as team member and individual contributor. Write and maintain system documentation.\nResponsible for matching current technology with the needs of the company.\nStrong TCP/IP and SNA/APPN problem solving and protocol skills, and thorough understanding of Mainframe communication concepts and the ability to support mainframe connectivity design considerations.\nKnowledge of IBM zEnterprise server hardware\nIn-depth working knowledge of TCP, UDP, ICMP communications and routing protocols\nPacket trace execution and analysis\nz/OS Communication Server Policy Based Networking, and z/VM SSL Server configuration and support.\n10-15 years in design, development, coordination and implementation of Mainframe network engineering activities within z/OS and z/VM.\nStrong knowledge of encryption technologies and Certificate management.\nExperience supporting z/OS session layer encryption technologies, including development and implementation of Network Configuration Assistant AT-TLS and IPsec policies.\nBasic Qualifications:\nBachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in mainframe engineering\n7 or more years experience in z/OS engineering\nPreferred Qualifications:\nMainview installation, maintenance and customization\nz/OS and zSeries hardware networking configuration\nPerformance and capacity reporting with zPCA and/or SAS/MXG and/or Intellimagic\nzOSMF product installation and deployment.\nExperience with TCP/IP configuration and troubleshooting.\nExperience with storage management.\nPerformance management with WLM.\nReporting and planning with zPCA and/or SAS/MXG\nIndependent Software Vendor installation and maintenance\nz/OS installation, customization and maintenance.\nCoupling Facility updates.\nChangeMan Administration.\nManaging multiple tasks and delivering on committed target dates.\nCoordinates with application programmers and users to determine symptoms and ensure accurate problem resolution.\nKnowledge of banking industry business processes a plus. \nGood written and oral communication skills are required as the individual must interface with application developers, support teams, software vendors and management staff \nAdaptability\nArchitecture\nInnovative Thinking\nProject Management\nTechnical Strategy Development\n Exempt Status: (Yes = not eligible for overtime pay) (No = eligible for overtime pay)\nYesApplications Accepted Through:\n12/25/2026Huntington expects to accept applications through at least the date above, and may continue to accept applications until the position is filled.\nWorkplace Type:\nOfficeOur Approach to Office Workplace Type\nCertain positions outside our branch network may be eligible for a flexible work arrangement.
