The position serves as the principal technical resource for assigned processes, helping ensure safe, reliable, efficient, and consistent operations in accordance with established procedures and operating requirements. The role leads troubleshooting and process improvement activities, supports new product introductions and productivity initiatives, and provides process engineering expertise across plant operational areas as needed.\nThe successful candidate is expected to operate with minimal supervision, apply sound engineering judgment, take ownership of assigned processes, and work effectively across Production, Laboratory, Management, Technical, and other plant support functions to improve safety, quality, efficiency, reliability, and waste performance.\nEssential Responsibilities, including but not limited to:\nSafety, Environmental & Process Safety\nSupport safe operation of assigned production areas and participate in Environmental, Health & Safety initiatives established by the company.\nMonitor activities within assigned areas to support compliance with applicable Process Safety Management requirements.\nParticipate in Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) studies and other process safety activities as assigned.\nMonitor the safe handling, identification, storage, and removal of hazardous waste streams resulting from production activities.\nSupport compliance with applicable site procedures and requirements related to regulated materials and wastes.\nProcess Engineering & Production Support\nServe as the principal technical advisor to Production, Management, process improvement teams, and other plant support groups within assigned areas of responsibility.\nServe as Process Owner for assigned production lines and processes, maintaining technical ownership and supporting their safe and effective operation.\nMonitor daily unit operations to support product quality, operating efficiency, and waste reduction.\nLead troubleshooting and process improvement efforts involving process, quality, or equipment abnormalities and implement measures to prevent recurring performance issues and downtime.\nPartner with Production and Laboratory teams to establish operating conditions and sampling schedules for test runs, new product startups, and process improvement activities.\nPerform material balances for assigned processes, including raw materials, products, and waste streams.\nPerform mass and energy balances, economic studies, environmental release calculations, and other process engineering calculations as required.\nDocument process changes, significant improvements or problems, test-run results, catalyst events, and other relevant process activities in accordance with established procedures.\nNew Products, Projects & Process Improvements\nSupport new product introductions, productivity initiatives, and other technical improvement projects as assigned.\nPrepare project scopes of work, business justification, and process and equipment specifications as required.\nProvide management with technical information and recommendations regarding evolving technologies and potential process improvements.\nSupport projects through equipment selection, construction, operator training, startup, and post-implementation review to help ensure proper operation.\nCoordinate with appropriate plant functions during test runs, startups, and implementation of process or equipment changes.\nContinuous Improvement & Operational Excellence\nUse Lean and Six Sigma tools, where appropriate, to optimize assigned processes and improve operational performance.\nIdentify underlying causes of process underperformance, equipment abnormalities, quality issues, waste, and downtime and develop practical solutions to prevent recurrence.\nApply analytical and engineering principles to improve process efficiency, reliability, quality, and overall manufacturing performance.\nSupport plant productivity and continuous improvement initiatives through technical analysis, problem-solving, and implementation support.\nCollaboration, Communication & Process Ownership\nBuild effective working relationships with Production, Laboratory, Management, Technical, and other plant support teams.\nCommunicate technical information and recommendations clearly and tactfully, both verbally and in writing.\nDemonstrate flexibility and adaptability in response to changing instructions, operational requirements, and organizational priorities.\nTake initiative and personal ownership for assigned processes and follow through on technical issues and improvement opportunities.\nParticipate in required company training and assist other employees in accomplishing company and site goals.\nQualifications\nYou must possess the minimum qualifications below to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.\nThe candidate must have an unrestricted right to work for Huntsman in the United States.\nMinimum Qualifications\nBachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering ; or a high school diploma or equivalent with 10+ years of relevant experience.\n5+ years of relevant experience in process, production, or a related engineering environment.\nDemonstrated ability to apply chemical engineering principles to manufacturing processes and unit operations.\nExperience troubleshooting process, quality, or equipment abnormalities and developing effective corrective or preventive solutions.\nAbility to perform material balances, mass and energy balances, economic studies, environmental calculations, and other process engineering analyses.\nGood written and verbal communication skills.\nProficiency with Microsoft programs, internet, and email tools.\nAbility to work effectively with minimal supervision while managing changing priorities and operational requirements.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience in chemical manufacturing or a similar production environment.\nExperience applying Lean and/or Six Sigma tools to process improvement activities.\nExperience supporting productivity projects and new product introductions.\nExperience developing project scopes, process or equipment specifications, and supporting projects through startup and post-implementation review.\nAdvanced PC skills.\nSuccess in This Role\nDemonstrate strong ownership of assigned production lines and processes and act as a trusted technical resource to plant stakeholders.\nUse analytical thinking and sound engineering judgment to identify root causes and implement sustainable process improvements.\nAchieve measurable improvements in safety, quality, efficiency, reliability, waste reduction, and operational performance.\nBuild effective relationships across Production, Laboratory, Technical, Management, and other plant support functions.\nCommunicate effectively and tactfully while translating technical information into practical recommendations and actions.\nRemain flexible, proactive, and adaptable when responding to changing site requirements and organizational priorities.\n Working Conditions\nThe role supports manufacturing operations and may involve a combination of computer-based engineering work and activities within production areas. Work may include sitting, standing, walking, lifting or carrying, bending, stooping, reaching, exposure to loud noise or chemicals, and work around operating equipment or in elevated or confined areas, depending on site and operational requirements.\nThis position may involve materials regulated under the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA).
