This position will report to the Project Engineering Team Lead.\nJob Scope\nThe Project Engineer will help develop minimal technical scopes and prepare TIC estimates for identified projects in the Geismar capital portfolio. The role includes working with engineering firms and internal design and estimating capabilities, as well as submitting expenditure proposals to secure funding. Projects are generally between $100,000 and $2 million.\nIn summary, as the Project Engineer, you will:\nHelp develop technical scopes and prepare TIC estimates for identified projects in the Geismar capital portfolio.\nManage multiple projects in various stages of engineering and construction.\nProvide project status updates to the Project Manager, Project Engineering Team Lead, or Capital Program Manager on a predetermined basis.\nInteract with Process, Production, Maintenance, and Safety personnel to facilitate project design.\nWork with the inside design group to develop capital projects.\nWork with outside engineering and construction firms for capital project work.\nWork with and through the Purchasing Department to procure materials required for installation on capital projects.\nWork within the project engineering group and interact with other departments to implement the continuous improvement process.\nUse technical skills to develop solutions for assigned projects within designated time frames.\nEvaluate cost estimates to ensure all aspects of the scope have been included.\nPresent concerns regarding project risk to the appropriate project leadership.\nEnsure the safe and successful technical and financial completion of capital projects.\nComplete projects within sanctioned funding levels and established project schedules.\nProcure high-quality, safe, and functional plant equipment using existing Project Engineering Procedures and Specifications, Rubicon General Specifications, and applicable national codes and standards.\nQualifications\nYou must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus.\nThe candidate must have an unrestricted right to work for Rubicon in the United States.\nMinimum Qualifications\nBachelor of Science degree in an engineering discipline.\nMinimum of 3 years of chemical plant/refinery experience as a process, project, or maintenance engineer.\nSkills and knowledge\nUnderstanding of basic plant processes and the materials and chemicals used in these processes.\nWorking knowledge of piping design, equipment layout, electrical basics, instrumentation basics, pump selection, materials of construction, and civil/structural basics.\nSkills to practice continuous improvement in assignments.\nCost estimating and project management skills.\nComputer skills necessary to produce required reports during the execution of capital projects.\nAbility to provide EHS, life cycle, or profitability analysis for projects.\nAbility to develop and progress project schedules from conception through completion.\nAbility to maintain working relationships with other plant departments to ensure cooperation and mutual respect.\nCommitment to working safely, recognizing possible hazards, and taking action to prevent potential injuries.\nRubicon is proud to be an equal opportunity workplace.
