This role will focus on several projects concurrently, including\naccessible epub development and state customizations to print and digital\ncurriculum materials, such as teacher guides and digital resource libraries. In\naddition to managing several designers, the design manager will oversee the\nday-to-day design work and collaborate with cross-functional peers to develop\ncreative solutions to potential blockers.\nWhat You’ll Do:\nOnboard and train new designers, preparing them to successfully take\non work.\nLiaise between India and US teams, helping clarify briefs, timelines,\nfeedback, and expectations.\nReview creative work, ensuring that the established design strategy is\nupheld across product mediums.\nCommunicate regularly with supervisors, design and production teams,\nand cross-functional collaborators.\nUnderstand and execute project goals and maintain schedules,\nelevating concerns or blockers in a timely manner.\nHow you’ll contribute:\nOnboard designers, reviewing expectations, processes, and best\npractices. Serve as a resource and give specific feedback and\nguidance when necessary.\nSupport the definition and tracking of basic performance\nmetrics for the India design team (e.g., turnaround time,\nrevisions, on-time delivery).\nDevelop a deep knowledge of product-specific visual design\nplans and understand how to implement that strategy across\nproject types and varying constraints.\nDeliver design direction, generate mock-ups for illustrative\npurposes, and edit existing designs across programs.\nPerform detailed reviews of vendor-generated epubs and provide\nactionable feedback to ensure consistency with the established\nvisual design, text styling, page structure, and accessibility\nstandards.\nEvaluate and update existing template designs to accommodate\nstate-specific content for printable worksheets and documents,\nbook interiors, and/or covers. Create new prototypes as needed.\nConduct page reviews, ensuring accuracy and proper\nimplementation of design strategy.\nMark up PDFs, noting reading order, image size guidance, or\nimage adaptations to guide vendor and in-house production.\nContribute to existing style guides and prototypes as needed.\nDrive iterative design workflows and print and digital processes,\npropose opportunities for efficiencies, raise potential risks and\nsolutions, and assist in determining staffing needs.\nAttend feedback sessions, consolidate inputs, and ensure\nrevisions are implemented accurately and efficiently.\nEnsure files meet accessibility and production requirements to\nsupport efficient handoffs\nWhat You’ll Bring\nCreative problem-solver, capable of engaging with both mathematics and literacy\ncurriculums.\nAbility to both lead and contribute as part of a cross-functional, cross-geography\nteam\nA strong appreciation and understanding of both print and UX design best practices\nand WCAG standards.\nWorking knowledge of HTML and CSS.\nDemonstrated accuracy and attention to detail.\nDeadline-driven mindset.\nOrganizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple\nprojects at once.\nExcellent communication, collaboration, and listening skills, proactively asks\nquestions.\nOpenness and ability to apply constructive feedback.\nEagerness to learn.\nKey Skills & Expertise\nExperience designing digital learning materials is preferred.\nSoftware:\n(Expert) Design/edit layouts, create stylesheets and templates: Adobe\nInDesign, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop\n(Proficient) Design/edit prototypes: Figma and Web Developer Tools\n(Proficient) Collaboration and project management: Mural, SharePoint,\nSmartsheet\n(Proficient) Setting and reviewing math equations: MathML and\nMathType\n(Bonus) File and asset management: Woodwing Studio and Woodwing Assets\n(Bonus) Familiarity with AI Tools (i.e. Claude) to make Design review functions\nmore efficient and to aid with developing design solutions at scale\nExperience & Education\n5+ years of related graphic design experience with a bachelor’s degree or equivalent\n2+ years of experience managing a team\nA portfolio of work;
