The Emergency Department Admissions Representative supports patient registration and admission activities within the Emergency Department, ensuring demographic and insurance information is captured accurately and efficiently. This role works directly with patients, families, clinical teams, and other stakeholders in a fast-paced environment while providing a positive and compassionate patient experience.\nKey Responsibilities\nRegister and pre-register patients accurately and efficiently.\nObtain and verify patient demographic and insurance information.\nComplete insurance eligibility verification and required assignments and signatures.\nMaintain established registration accuracy standards, including the 98% accuracy expectation.\nCollect copays, coinsurance, deductibles, and other patient payments.\nProcess patient account payments and complete required daily deposits.\nIdentify uninsured, self-pay, or coverage concerns and escalate to Financial Counseling.\nDistribute admission and registration documentation to appropriate teams.\nAssist with patient transportation as needed.\nProvide courteous, compassionate service to patients and families across all age groups.\nMaintain confidentiality of Protected Health Information (PHI) and comply with HIPAA requirements.\nFollow applicable federal, state, organizational, and client requirements.\nRequired Qualifications\nBasic computer, clerical, and keyboarding skills.\nAbility to communicate clearly and effectively.\nStrong attention to detail and accuracy.\nAbility to provide professional customer service in a patient-facing environment.\nAbility to work independently and adapt to changing priorities and work volumes.\nAbility to work a variable shift schedule based on Emergency Department coverage needs, including days, evenings, weekends, holidays, and other assigned shifts to support 24/7 operations.\nPreferred Qualifications\nPrevious clerical, registration, healthcare, or customer service experience.\nPrevious computer and data-entry experience.\nKnowledge of medical terminology.\nStrong interpersonal and customer service skills.\nAbility to enter and maintain information accurately and efficiently.\nCore Competencies\nIntegrity: Demonstrates honesty, sound judgment, and responsibility in interactions with patients, colleagues, and clients.\nCompassion: Approaches patients and families with empathy, patience, and a strong service mindset.\nAccountability: Takes ownership of assigned responsibilities, accuracy, and follow-through.\nRespect: Works effectively with diverse patients, families, colleagues, and healthcare professionals.\nExcellence: Maintains high standards for accuracy, service, compliance, and operational performance.\nThe estimated hourly rate for this job is $19.23 - $25.96/hour. The actual salary paid to an individual will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to specific skills or certifications, years of experience, market changes, and required travel. This job is also eligible to participate in Huron’s annual incentive compensation program, which reflects Huron’s pay for performance philosophy.
