Founded in 2004, HX5 is a fast-growing veteran- and woman-owned company with locations nationwide.\nHX5 is currently seeking an early career Aerospace Engineer to join our team in Brook Park, Ohio in support of the GEARS contract at NASA Glenn Research Center.\nEssential Duties and Responsibilities:\nThe selected candidate will support NASA’s mission of landing Boots on the Moon in 2028 by supporting Human Landing System (HLS) and Moon Base. These ambitious goals require independent assessments of the data, results, and recommendation delivered by the HLS and Moon Base providers. The selected candidate will join an established team that is already conducting independent analyses of HLS and Moon Base data and providing those results and recommendations to NASA and their providers.\nThese efforts to support HLS and Moon Base will involve complex data analysis and synthesis of cross-discipline information. The selected candidate will be responsible for the following:\nProvide incremental and final results, documentation, and software scripts to support the concurrent analysis cycles needed by NASA’s return to the Moon Base.\nReview plans for follow-on cycles and make recommendations for improvement\nAttend and participate in weekly meetings to provide status and support collaboration between the multi-NASA center HLS and Moon Base teams.\nIn addition, to improve and optimize the presentation of results, the selected candidate will be responsible for supporting the Database Technical Lead for database development and database maintenance. The databases are specific to NASA customers and their missions, as well as industry partners and their missions.\nThis technical effort will use the Glenn Research Center Communication Analysis Suite (GCAS) software package. GCAS was developed to simulate potential orbits of spacecraft and to optimize characteristics of a mission in a visual representation. In addition, analysis and synthesis of data, related to mission constraints and figures of merit, will be required to support and assess the HLS and Moon Base site selections.\nThis effort is monitored by the Architecture Definition and Systems Analysis Branch at NASA GRC, which provides research and engineering to define and analyze communications system architectures.\nRequired Skills:\nProficient in Matlab software and coding \nExperience with database development and management\nFamiliarity or experience with reviewing industry design documentation for providing insight and assessment to NASA\nFamiliarity or experience with analysis for space related applications\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills for explanation of analyses and presentation of results \nHighly motivated and able to work independently \nCommitted to successful collaboration with the NASA team and industry partners\nDesired Skills:\nCross-discipline knowledge that includes:Launch window analysis and logistics\nOrbital trajectory analysis\nLine of sight communication\n\nFamiliarity or experience with GCAS, STK, SOAP or similar software package\nFamiliarity or experience with C++\nExperience working on NASA space related projects \nEducation/Experience:\nCompleted at least a Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering or other STEM-related major, from an accredited program, with the following education and experience:\nBachelor's degree with 0 to 2 years of experience\nOther Position Requirements:\nProof of U.S. Citizenship is a requirement for this
