Founded in 2004, HX5 is a fast-growing veteran- and woman-owned company with locations nationwide.\nHX5 is currently seeking a senior-level systems engineer to join our team in Brook Park, Ohio in support of the GEARS contract at NASA Glenn Research Center.\nEssential Duties and Responsibilities:\nNASA’s new mission to demonstrate deep-space nuclear-electric propulsion will adapt Gateway’s Power and Propulsion Element (PPE) to be used with the Space Reactor-1 (SR-1) Freedom as its structural and propulsion foundation. The selected candidate will support the SR-1 Freedom Nuclear Power Module (NPM) for Systems Engineering and Integration (SE&I) efforts and will lead requirements development, definition, and their documentation. SR-1 is planned to launch in December 2028 and is the NASA spacecraft that will provide a path to future higher power and longer duration missions.\nThe selected candidate will lead NPM requirements definition. Primary responsibilities will include:\nContribute to and lead NPM requirements development and definition\nContribute and lead documentation and presentations for required technical reviews \nParticipate in regular working groups to coordinate modifications and verify their consistency among all stakeholders\nSupport collaboration between the relevant NASA Centers and industry partners \nThe selected candidate will support the NPM Lead Systems Engineer. This effort is monitored by the Science and Space Technology Systems Branch at NASA GRC, which provides leadership in systems engineering to enable science and space technology programs and projects.\nRequired Skills:\nExperience with defining requirements and their verification\nExperience with systems engineering for spacecraft hardware\nExperience with formal systems engineering processes and their documentation\nExcellent communication skills for interacting with the NASA team and their industry partners\nHighly motivated and able to work independently\nCommitted to successful collaboration with the NASA team and industry partners\nDesired Skills:\nKnowledge or experience with NASA systems engineering processes\nExperience with system level and subsystem integration for large spacecraft\nExperience with NASA spaceflight hardware projects\nExperience working with NASA\nEducation/Experience:\nCompleted at least a Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM-related major, from an accredited program, with one of the following combinations of education and experience:\nBachelor of Science degree and ten (10) or more years of relevant experience \nMaster of Science degree and six (6) to fifteen (15) years of relevant experience \nPh.
