Founded in 2004, HX5 is a fast-growing veteran- and woman-owned company with locations nationwide.\nHX5 is currently seeking a Structural Analyst for the Moonbase Program to join the team at NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas.\nEssential Duties and Responsibilities:\nReview andunderstand structural requirements on Flight Hardware, Ground Support Equipment, and Test Support Equipment.\nUse stress analysis experience to perform classical hand calculations for stress analysis and determine Margins of Safety.\nCreate Finite element models using PATRAN, FEMAP, or more advanced solutions in MSC/MARC.\nApply loads and boundary conditions to Finite Element Models, post-process results.\nCalculate Margins of Safety for parts and assemblies.\nPrepare structural analysis reports.\nCollaborate with other engineers to find resolutions to technical issues.\nAssess parts and Assemblies for Fracture Control per NASA-STD-5019. \nAssess Fastener/Joint assemblies per NASA-STD-5020.\nBe familiar with NASA-STD-5001, NASA-STD-5005, and other relevant NASA standards.\nFamiliarity with desktop software applications, MS Office is required.\nMust have excellent oral and written communication skills.\nPrevious experience performing structural analysis on NASA spaceflight hardware.\nPrevious experience using the Finite Elements Analysis Tools listed in the job description.\nPrevious experience or familiarity with NASGRO.\nPerform other duties as required.\nEducation and Experience\nThis position has been posted at multiple levels. an ABET-accredited engineering school;\nTwo (2) to Five (5) years of experience in the field or in a related area. \nNASTRAN experience using Linear Statics (Sol 101), Non-linear statics (Sol 106), Linear buckling (Sol 105) (for both pressurized structures and framing structures), Modal Analysis (Sol 103) for extraction of natural frequencies and mass participation.\nExperience performing Fastened Joint Analysis.\nExperience performing Thermal Load Analysis.\nPreferences\nExperienceusing NASTRAN for Structural Optimization (Sizing, Topology) [Sol 200].\nExperience with Creo/FEMAP, Siemens NX/SimCenter, HyperSizer/HyperX.\nExperience with Durability/Damage Tolerance analysis (NASGRO).\nExperience with analyzing composite structures.\nExperience with analyzing soft good structures\nSeal Compression Analysis\nWorking knowledge of NASA-STD-5019, -5020, -5001 (or JSC 65828), -5017.\nPosition Type/Expected Hours of Work:\nThis is a full-time position and offers a 9/80
