From payroll and recruiting to employee relations and scheduling, you'll help make sure every employee feels supported and that the store is staffed and set up for success.\nIf you're organized, enjoy working with people, and want to grow your career in HR, this is a great opportunity to build your skills alongside an experienced team.\nWhat You'll Do\nNo two shifts are exactly the same, but here's what you can expect:\nDeliver outstanding customer service by greeting customers warmly and assisting them throughout the store\n\nAssist with inputting, updating, and deleting employee information in the Workday time and attendance system\n\nSupport counseling with department heads and employees on performance reviews, personal issues, scheduling, benefits, and wages; assist as Insurance Coordinator and 401(k) Coordinator\n\nAssist with recruiting and retention programs and coordinate employee transfers between stores\n\nSupport the hiring process including interviewing and placement of specified positions and assist with conducting orientations and training new employees\n\nTrack vacations and personal days; assist with scheduling, honor time-off requests, and arrange coverage for call-ins\n\nAssist with making payroll adjustments including bonuses and missed pay raises and transmit sales, hours, adjustments, and accounts receivable to the corporate office weekly\n\nHelp disperse paychecks, W-2s, and Trust Fund and 401(k) reports; distribute company and store communications including birthdays and anniversaries\n\nAssist in preparing employee wage and employment verifications, disability claims, and leave of absence requests\n\nAssist in recording and following up on Workers Compensation claims and complete accident reports for customers and employees\n\nAssist with conducting exit interviews and share results with store leadership\n\nAttend weekly staff meetings and assistant manager meetings; participate in employee evaluations\n\nCoordinate and conduct quarterly employee meetings, store events, and service award programs\n\nAssist with handling customer complaints and sending follow-up and thank-you correspondence\n\nHandle confidential employee records and sensitive information with strict discretion\n\nMaintain compliance with Hy-Vee's dress code, hygiene standards, and all company policies\n\nAssist in other store areas and take on special projects as needed\n\nYou'll receive direction and support from: Store Director, Store Manager, Assistant Managers of Store Operations, Perishables, and Health Wellness Home, and Human Resource Manager\n\nYour Skills\nTo be successful in this role, you'll need to be able to:\nCommunicate clearly and professionally in writing and verbally with employees and leadership\n\nInterview, counsel, and advise employees and managers with care and discretion\n\nSolve practical problems and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment\n\nUse basic math skills, including fractions, decimals, and percentages\n\nHandle confidential employee records and information with strict discretion\n\nHigh school diploma plus 2 to 3 years of HR and accounting coursework required; Hy-Vee experience preferred\n\nReporting Relationships\nAccountable and Reports to: Store Director, Store Manager, Assistant Managers of Store Operations, Perishables, and Health Wellness Home, and Human Resource Manager\nEducation and Experience\nHigh school diploma plus 2 to 3 years of HR and accounting coursework required\n\nHy-Vee experience preferred\n\nPhysical Requirements\nPhysical activity is incidental to the core duties of the role\n\nOccasionally walk the floor or facility to observe operations, staff, or product\n\nWhere applicable to the role: ability to occasionally handle product for demonstration purposes\n\nNo regular lifting, carrying, or physical exertion required\n\nWorking Environment\nThis role is performed in a fast-paced store environment.
