Additionally, ensuring to always maintain a positive company image by providing courteous, friendly, and efficient customer service to customers and team members.\nCore Competencies\nPartnerships\nGrowth mindset\nResults oriented\nCustomer focused\nProfessionalism\nReporting Relations\nAccountable and Reports to: District Store Director, Store Manager, Assistant Managers of; Perishables, Store Operations, and Health Wellness Home; Bakery Department Manager\nPositions that Report to you: Apprentice Baker, Bakery Designer, Wrapper, Fryer\nPrimary Duties and Responsibilities\nProvides prompt, efficient and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring, concern and patience in all customer interactions and treating customers as the most important people in the store.\nSmiles and greets customers in a friendly manner, whether the encounter takes place in the employee’s designated department or elsewhere in the store\nMakes an effort to learn customers’ names and to address them by name whenever possible\nAssists customers by: (examples include)escorting them to the products they’re looking for\nsecuring products that are out of reach\nloading or unloading heavy items\nmaking note of and passing along customer suggestions or requests\nperforming other tasks in every way possible to enhance the shopping experience.\n\nAnswers the telephone promptly and provides friendly, helpful service to customers who call including taking product orders.\nChecks orders for the day and sets up a timeline and production schedule.\nPrepares make up, bakes, and fries all department products as needed.\nReviews the status and appearance of product for freshness and pulls by stale date.\nInvoices and puts away product as instructed by the department manager.\nAnticipates product needs, not only for the current day but subsequent days.\nInspects incoming products quality and quantity, e.g. mispicks.\nUnderstands the use and issues related to bakery equipment and follows up on potential maintenance issues.\nChecks signage for correct labels on ad items.\nReviews department for potential safety issues, e.g. hot racks or knobs in hot water.\nOperates as a lead with bakery clerks.\nPrioritizes orders as per customer and department manager request; checks orders (not only special orders, but future orders for the day).\nProofs necessary items.\nPulls product from the freezer or the cooler.\nUnderstands and practices proper sanitation procedures and ensures the work area is always clean and neat.\nMaintains strict adherence to department and company guidelines related to personal hygiene and dress.\nAdheres to company policies and individual store guidelines.\nReports to work when scheduled and on time.\nSecondary Duties and Responsibilities\nOrders supplies and merchandise items for the department (except cake decorating items) as directed by the bakery manager.\nReviews current product on the shelf, re-merchandises the shelf, and throws away or recycles outdated products.\nWrites the department schedule and ensures employees are at work, on time, and finds replacements when necessary, in bakery manager’s absence.\nAssists in other areas of store as needed.\nPerforms other job related duties and special projects as required.\nKnowledge, Skills, Abilities and Worker Characteristics\nMust have the ability to solve practical problems; variety of variables with limited standardization; interpret instructions\nAbility to do arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages\nMust be able to copy data from one record to another, interview to obtain basic information, guide people and provide basic direction.\nEducation and Experience\nHigh school or equivalent experience (department training helpful) and over six months up to one year of similar or related experience.\nPhysical Requirements\nMust be physically able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and up to 20 pounds of force frequently to move objects.\nVisual requirements include vision from more than 20 inches and less than 20 feet with or without correction, color vision, depth perception, and field of vision\nMust be able to perform the following physical activities: Stooping, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.\nWorking Conditions\nThis position is continually exposed to flour, noise, and temperature extremes. There is frequent exposure to dampness, vibrations, equipment movement hazards, and occasional exposure to cleaning chemicals/solvents.
