In this role, you'll prep ingredients, assemble dishes according to restaurant recipes and specifications, and keep the kitchen running smoothly from the first shift through the last.\nIf you love working in a kitchen, take pride in quality food, and thrive in a fast-paced environment, we'd love to have you on our team.\nWhat You'll Do\nNo two shifts are exactly the same, but here's what you can expect:\nProvide prompt, friendly customer service by greeting customers with a smile and making every interaction a positive one\n\nPrepare cooking surfaces and ready the kitchen for service\n\nPrepare vegetables, sides, meats, and breakfast foods according to restaurant recipes and specifications\n\nPlace food in hot cases, monitor amounts, and refill as necessary throughout your shift\n\nPrepare items for upcoming shifts to ensure a smooth transition\n\nStay knowledgeable of all menu items and take guest orders as needed\n\nOrder product and supplies when necessary or notify the department head of needs\n\nPractice proper sanitation procedures and keep the work area clean and organized at all times\n\nWork with co-workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment\n\nAssist in other areas of the store as needed and take on special projects as assigned\n\nMaintain strict adherence to personal hygiene, dress standards, and all Hy-Vee policies and store guidelines\n\nReport to work when scheduled and on time\n\nYour Skills\nSolve practical problems and interpret instructions across a variety of situations with limited standardization\n\nPerform simple addition and subtraction, copy figures, and count and record accurately\n\nUnderstand and follow verbal or demonstrated directions and communicate supply needs orally or in writing\n\nWork effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced kitchen environment\n\nReporting Relationships\nAccountable and Reports to: Store Director; Store Manager; Assistant Managers of Store Operations, Perishables, and Health Wellness Home; Food Service Manager; Market Grille Department Manager; Assistant Market Grille Department Manager\nEducation and Experience\nHigh school diploma or equivalent experience required\n\nSix months or less of similar or related work experience preferred\n\nPhysical Requirements\nFrequently stand and walk throughout a shift in sales, food service, or delivery areas\n\nWhere applicable to the role: ability to safely use sharp knives and blades for food preparation\n\nWhere applicable to the role: exposure to heat- and burn-related hazards associated with cooking, baking, or grilling equipment\n\nWhere applicable to the role: ability to operate a delivery vehicle in accordance with applicable DOT standards\n\nPerform repetitive standing, walking, reaching, and bending associated with order fulfillment, POS transactions, and cleaning/sanitation duties\n\nWorking Environment\nThis is a fast-paced role in a kitchen environment where you will be on your feet throughout your shift. You will have frequent exposure to cool and warm temperatures, dampness, equipment noise and vibrations, possible equipment movement hazards from slicers and choppers, and daily exposure to cleaning chemicals or solvents.
