You'll make sure every customer gets a fresh, high-quality product and a genuinely warm experience from the moment they walk up to the counter.\nIf you love coffee, enjoy leading a team, and take pride in delivering great service in a fast-paced environment, this could be a great fit for you.\nWhat You'll Do\nNo two shifts are exactly the same, but here's what you can expect:\nDeliver outstanding customer service by greeting customers warmly, learning their names, and going the extra mile to make every visit a positive one\n\nTake customer orders at the counter and over the phone, and assist with finding products and answering questions\n\nEnsure food is handled safely and the work area is always clean, neat, and up to department standards\n\nMonitor product freshness and appearance throughout your shift and prepare and replenish product as needed\n\nAnticipate daily product needs and follow or develop a production list to stay ahead\n\nCheck in product, put product away, and review invoices as needed\n\nRun the department register and process payments where applicable\n\nInstruct, assign, and coordinate work for Coffee Shop Baristas\n\nOrder product and supplies as needed and price products for customers as necessary\n\nRemove trash promptly and maintain a clean, organized department\n\nHandle confidential information including sales percentages and employee wages with discretion\n\nMaintain compliance with Hy-Vee's dress code, hygiene standards, and all company policies\n\nAssist in other store areas and take on special projects as needed\n\nYou'll receive direction and support from: Store Director, Store Manager, Assistant Managers of Store Operations, Perishables, and Health Wellness Home, Food Service Director, and Coffee Shop Department Manager\n\nYour Skills\nTo be successful in this role, you'll need to be able to:\nDeliver outstanding customer service and motivate your team to do the same\n\nSolve practical problems and make sound decisions with a variety of variables\n\nUse basic math skills, including fractions, decimals, and percentages\n\nGuide and support team members with clear direction and follow-through\n\nHigh school diploma or equivalent required; food safety or sanitation courses encouraged; one year of similar or related experience preferred\n\nReporting Relationships\nAccountable and Reports to: Store Director, Store Manager, Assistant Managers of Store Operations, Perishables, and Health Wellness Home, Food Service Director, and Coffee Shop Department Manager\nDirect Reports: Coffee Shop Baristas\nEducation and Experience\nHigh school diploma or equivalent required\n\nFood safety or sanitation courses encouraged\n\nOne year of similar or related experience preferred\n\nPhysical Requirements\nFrequently stand and walk throughout a shift in sales, food service, or delivery areas\n\nWhere applicable to the role: ability to safely use sharp knives and blades for food preparation\n\nWhere applicable to the role: exposure to heat- and burn-related hazards associated with cooking, baking, or grilling equipment\n\nWhere applicable to the role: ability to operate a delivery vehicle in accordance with applicable DOT standards\n\nPerform repetitive standing, walking, reaching, and bending associated with order fulfillment, POS transactions, and cleaning/sanitation duties\n\nWorking Environment\nThis is a fast-moving role in a coffee shop environment. You may frequently encounter cool temperatures, dampness, noise and vibrations from equipment, and daily exposure to cleaning chemicals or solvents. The role also involves working with and around food service equipment including slicers and choppers.
