We're seeking people with a passion for customer service, a willingness to learn, and a commitment to being part of a team that strives to make our customers' lives easier, healthier and happier.\nThe Role and Why It's Important\nOur Courtesy Clerks are an essential part of the Hy-Vee experience, helping customers from the register all the way to their car and keeping the store clean, stocked, and welcoming for everyone who walks through the door. In this role, you'll package purchases, assist customers, maintain the store, and lend a hand wherever you are needed.\nIf you enjoy staying active, love helping people, and take pride in a store that looks and feels great, we'd love to have you on our team.\nWhat You'll Do\nNo two shifts are exactly the same, but here's what you can expect:\nProvide prompt, friendly customer service by greeting customers with a smile, learning their names, and going out of your way to make every visit a great one\n\nPackage customer purchases and assist customers in transporting them to their mode of transportation\n\nBring carts in from the parking lot and cart corrals throughout your shift\n\nClean registers, restrooms, the break room, and the backroom, and sweep and mop floors as needed\n\nClean the can redemption area and empty recycle bins where applicable\n\nStock, face, and rotate merchandise, clean shelves, understand shelf tags, and know the location of merchandise in the store and backroom\n\nPull product forward on shelves to maintain a full, organized appearance\n\nCheck prices on products as needed\n\nMaintain front end supplies including paper and plastic bags, receipt paper, and other necessary items\n\nHelp train new courtesy clerks\n\nDeliver product to customers and assist in all departments as requested within wage and hour guidelines\n\nShovel, salt, and sand walkways as needed\n\nWork with co-workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment\n\nAssist in other areas of the store as needed and take on special projects as assigned\n\nMaintain strict adherence to personal hygiene, dress standards, and all Hy-Vee policies and store guidelines\n\nReport to work when scheduled and on time\n\nYour Skills\nTo be successful, you'll need to be able to:\nFollow detailed written or verbal instructions and work through tasks with a few concrete variables\n\nPerform simple addition and subtraction, copy figures, and count and record accurately\n\nUnderstand and follow verbal or demonstrated directions and communicate supply needs orally or in writing\n\nWork effectively as part of a team to keep the store clean and customers happy\n\nReporting Relationships\nAccountable and Reports to: Store Director; Store Manager; Assistant Managers of Store Operations, Perishables, and Health Wellness Home; Service Managers\nEducation and Experience\nNo education or experience requirements; we will provide all the training you need to succeed\n\nPhysical Requirements\nFrequently stand and walk throughout a shift in sales, food service, or delivery areas\n\nWhere applicable to the role: ability to safely use sharp knives and blades for food preparation\n\nWhere applicable to the role: exposure to heat- and burn-related hazards associated with cooking, baking, or grilling equipment\n\nWhere applicable to the role: ability to operate a delivery vehicle in accordance with applicable DOT standards\n\nPerform repetitive standing, walking, reaching, and bending associated with order fulfillment, POS transactions, and cleaning/sanitation duties\n\nWorking Environment\nThis role keeps you active throughout the store and surrounding exterior areas. You will have regular exposure to noise, temperature extremes, dampness, dirt, and cleaning chemicals or solvents.
