In this role, you'll handle a wide variety of transactions accurately and efficiently while making every customer feel welcomed and valued.\nIf you enjoy working with people, stay calm under pressure, and take pride in getting things done right, we'd love to have you on our team.\nWhat You'll Do\nNo two shifts are exactly the same, but here's what you can expect:\nProvide prompt, friendly customer service by greeting customers with a smile, learning their names, and making every interaction a positive one\n\nWeigh postal packages, run mail through meters, and process certified, express, UPS, registered, and insured mail\n\nProcess Western Union orders and send faxes for customers\n\nSell money orders and cash payroll, personal, ADC, and social security checks\n\nSell hunting and fishing licenses\n\nBreak down and put money in utility drawers and process paid outs\n\nSign on the postal department, break down, and turn off the postal register\n\nCount daily coupons and process refunds for customers and department-approved refunds\n\nSign on and off lottery machines, sell and redeem lottery tickets\n\nAssist customers with dry cleaning where applicable and process bottle refunds\n\nAssist customers at registers and in other areas of the store as needed\n\nAnswer the telephone and use the intercom system using appropriate procedures\n\nRemove trash in a timely manner and maintain a clean, organized work area\n\nWork with co-workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment\n\nMaintain strict adherence to personal hygiene, dress standards, and all Hy-Vee policies and store guidelines\n\nReport to work when scheduled and on time\n\nYour Skills\nTo be successful, you'll need to be able to:\nSolve practical problems and interpret instructions across a variety of situations with limited standardization\n\nPerform arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages accurately\n\nFile, post, and organize materials; copy data accurately between records; and gather basic information as needed\n\nGuide customers and provide clear, helpful direction in a professional manner\n\nCommunicate clearly and professionally with customers, team members, and store leadership\n\nReporting Relationships\nAccountable and Reports to: Store Director; Store Manager; Assistant Managers of Store Operations, Perishables, and Health Wellness Home\nEducation and Experience\nHigh school diploma or equivalent experience required\n\nOver six months up to one year of similar or related work experience preferred\n\nPhysical Requirements\nFrequently stand and walk throughout a shift in sales, food service, or delivery areas\n\nWhere applicable to the role: ability to safely use sharp knives and blades for food preparation\n\nWhere applicable to the role: exposure to heat- and burn-related hazards associated with cooking, baking, or grilling equipment\n\nWhere applicable to the role: ability to operate a delivery vehicle in accordance with applicable DOT standards\n\nPerform repetitive standing, walking, reaching, and bending associated with order fulfillment, POS transactions, and cleaning/sanitation duties\n\nWorking Environment\nThis is a fast-paced role in a retail store environment where you will be on your feet and handling a variety of customer transactions throughout your shift. You will have continuous exposure to dirt and noise.
