In this role, you'll keep things running smoothly by staying on top of orders, handling food safely, and working as part of a team that takes pride in quality and service.\nIf you enjoy a fast-paced environment, like working with food, and love making customers happy, this could be a great fit for you.\nWhat You'll Do\nNo two shifts are exactly the same, but here's what you can expect:\nProvide prompt, friendly customer service, greeting customers with a smile, learning their names, and going the extra mile to make every visit a positive one\n\nTake customer orders at the Market Grille counter and answer the telephone promptly, providing helpful service including taking product orders\n\nReview daily orders, anticipate product needs, and prepare and replenish product as necessary\n\nPull product from the cooler or freezer to prepare for cooking and ensure an adequate food supply is ready and on hand\n\nHandle food safely and review the status and appearance of food for freshness at all times\n\nMaintain a clean, sanitary work area throughout your shift\n\nCheck in product, put product away, and review invoices as needed\n\nRun the department register, receive payment, and make change where applicable\n\nRemove trash in a timely manner and wash dishes as necessary\n\nPrice and order product and deliver orders as needed\n\nWork with co-workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment\n\nAssist in other areas of the store as needed and take on special projects as assigned\n\nMaintain strict adherence to personal hygiene, dress standards, and all Hy-Vee policies and store guidelines\n\nReport to work when scheduled and on time\n\nYour Skills\nTo be successful, you'll need to be able to:\nFollow detailed written or verbal instructions and work through tasks with a few concrete variables\n\nPerform simple addition and subtraction, copy figures, and count and record accurately\n\nUnderstand and follow verbal or demonstrated directions and communicate supply needs orally or in writing\n\nWork effectively as part of a team to deliver a great customer experience\n\nReporting Relationships\nAccountable and Reports to: Store Director; Store Manager; Assistant Managers of Store Operations, Perishables, and Health Wellness Home; Food Service Director; Market Grille Department Manager; Assistant Market Grille Department Manager; Service Managers\nEducation and Experience\nNo education requirement; we will provide all the training you need to succeed\n\nSix months or less of similar or related work experience; prior food service experience is a plus\n\nPhysical Requirements\nFrequently stand and walk throughout a shift in sales, food service, or delivery areas\n\nWhere applicable to the role: ability to safely use sharp knives and blades for food preparation\n\nWhere applicable to the role: exposure to heat- and burn-related hazards associated with cooking, baking, or grilling equipment\n\nWhere applicable to the role: ability to operate a delivery vehicle in accordance with applicable DOT standards\n\nPerform repetitive standing, walking, reaching, and bending associated with order fulfillment, POS transactions, and cleaning/sanitation duties\n\nWorking Environment\nThis role is performed in a store kitchen environment where things stay busy and engaging throughout your shift. You'll have exposure to noise, equipment movement, temperature extremes, and cleaning chemicals or solvents.
