In this role, you'll work closely with pharmacy teams, build relationships with patients and healthcare providers, and take ownership of the pharmacy in the manager's absence.\nIf you are a licensed pharmacist who thrives in a fast-paced environment, is passionate about patient wellbeing, and enjoys the variety that comes with working across multiple locations, we'd love to have you on our team.\nWhat You'll Do\nNo two shifts are exactly the same, but here's what you can expect:\nProvide prompt, friendly customer service by greeting customers with a smile, learning their names, and making every interaction a positive one\n\nFill and verify prescriptions and counsel patients in accordance with OBRA '90 regulations and all state and federal statutes and regulations\n\nAssist with controlled substance inventory on an annual basis or as recommended\n\nAssist with inventory control including ordering, stocking merchandise, checking invoices, and entering inventory information\n\nAssist with reconciliation and balancing of third-party accounts and monthly inventory\n\nAssist the HBC manager with ordering and merchandising over-the-counter products\n\nCoach, counsel, and train pharmacy employees and participate in additional education and training\n\nVisit schools, doctor's offices, and senior centers to market pharmacy services\n\nBuild growth and sales through counseling and wellness programs\n\nFollow security and regulatory procedures including Quality Assurance Programs\n\nAssume responsibility for the department in the absence of the Pharmacy Manager\n\nPartner with other departments and staff to promote wellness and the pharmacy\n\nCommunicate continually with the Pharmacy Manager about procedural changes, issues, or corporate communications\n\nAdminister immunizations as certified\n\nMaintain the confidentiality of customers' private medical information and prescription drug pricing in accordance with HIPAA\n\nAdhere to all Hy-Vee policies, store guidelines, and all statutes and regulations pertaining to a registered pharmacist\n\nReport to work when scheduled and on time\n\nYour Skills\nApply logical and scientific thinking to solve problems involving both abstract and concrete variables\n\nPerform arithmetic, algebraic, and geometric calculations accurately\n\nCompose original correspondence, follow technical manuals, and evaluate technical data\n\nCounsel and advise patients and interact professionally with healthcare providers, team members, and store leadership\n\nMaintain a high level of discretion and integrity when handling confidential patient and financial information\n\nReporting Relationships\nAccountable and Reports to: Store Director; Store Manager; Assistant Managers of Store Operations, Perishables, and Health Wellness Home; Pharmacy Department Manager; Pharmacy Supervisor\nDirect Reports: Pharmacy Technician; Pharmacy Clerk; Delivery Person; Pharmacy Students\nEducation and Experience\nCollege degree and licensure in pharmacy required; must maintain continuing education to keep license active\n\n6 months to 1 year of similar or related work experience required\n\nMedication Therapy Management (MTM) preferred\n\nAbility to administer immunizations required\n\nPhysical Requirements\nAbility to frequently stand and walk throughout a shift in the pharmacy and dispensing area, including extended periods at a pharmacy counter or workstation while verifying and processing prescriptions\n\nAbility to verify, dispense, and counsel patients on prescriptions, and administer immunizations, in accordance with state and federal pharmacy regulations\n\nExposure to bloodborne pathogens and sharps (needles, lancets) associated with immunization administration and pharmacy operations\n\nAbility to perform repetitive standing, walking, reaching, and bending associated with order fulfillment, POS transactions, and cleaning/sanitation duties\n\nWorking Environment\nThis is a fast-paced role across multiple retail pharmacy locations where you will handle multiple tasks throughout your shift including filling prescriptions, answering the telephone, and assisting customers. There is occasional exposure to hazardous chemicals or solvents during compounding, including chemotherapy drugs. This pharmacy handles and prepares hazardous drugs; personnel of reproductive capability should be aware that exposure may cause acute and chronic effects, and that following all pharmacy policies and procedures is essential to minimizing risk.
