We're seeking people with a passion for customer service, a willingness to learn, and a commitment to being part of a team that strives to make our customers' lives easier, healthier and happier.\nThe Role and Why It's Important\nThe Lead Store Accounting Coordinator keeps the financial backbone of the store running accurately and efficiently. In this role, you'll oversee store accounting functions including cash accountability, accounts payable and receivable, reconciliations, and deposits, while also guiding the Accounting Coordinator.\nIf you're detail-oriented, trustworthy, and take pride in keeping things accurate and organized, we'd love to have you on our team.\nWhat You'll Do\nNo two days are exactly the same, but here's what you can expect:\nProvide prompt, friendly customer service, greeting customers with a smile and making every interaction a positive one\n\nEvaluate daily money needs and maintain appropriate amounts in the safe\n\nCount the safe, gather gift card totals, and collect Western Union and utility reports, verifying against prior day sales and computer software\n\nScan checks, balance cash and checks, and prepare the daily deposit\n\nPrint necessary reports from store location servers and prepare and review checkout and cash accountability reports\n\nReconcile miscellaneous bags and verify ending register balances, including coupons, charges, ROAs, paid outs, and other miscellaneous payment items\n\nReconcile invoices, enter them into the system, and send to corporate; complete all other monthly reconciliations to balance with corporate\n\nPrepare unpaid invoice reports and reconcile Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) and store accounts receivable with corporate on a monthly basis\n\nComplete Third-Party reconciliations for the pharmacy as needed and reconcile FTD/Teleflora items monthly\n\nReconcile expense and merchandise spreadsheets\n\nTrack vacation and personal days for all store employees\n\nRun department invoice reports for department heads to reconcile and prepare invoices held at store for corporate\n\nCollect bad checks and follow up with customers on charges 60 days old or older\n\nVerify registers as needed and assist in other areas of the store as needed\n\nInstruct, assign, and coordinate the work of the Accounting Coordinator, maintaining standards and allocating tasks\n\nMaintain strict adherence to personal hygiene, dress standards, and all Hy-Vee policies and store guidelines\n\nReport to work when scheduled and on time\n\nYour Skills\nTo be successful, you'll need to be able to:\nSolve practical problems and interpret instructions across a variety of situations with limited standardization\n\nPerform arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages with a high degree of accuracy\n\nFile, post, and organize materials; copy data between records; and gather basic information through interviews or customer contact\n\nGuide and direct others clearly, providing basic direction to the Accounting Coordinator\n\nMaintain a high level of discretion and integrity when handling confidential financial information\n\nCommunicate professionally with customers, team members, vendors, and corporate contacts\n\nReporting Relationships\nAccountable and Reports to: Store Director; Store Manager; Assistant Managers of GM, Perishables, and Store Operations\nDirect Reports: Accounting Coordinator\nEducation and Experience\nHigh school diploma or equivalent experience required\n\n1 to 3 years of similar or related work experience required\n\nPhysical Requirements\nAbility to remain in a stationary position at a desk or workstation for extended periods\n\nOccasionally lift or carry objects of no more than 10 pounds, and occasionally stand, walk, reach, and perform repetitive motions\n\nPrimary work is performed using a computer, keyboard, and standard office software/systems\n\nPhysical activity is minimal and not a core function of the role\n\nWorking Environment\nThis role is primarily performed in an office setting within the store, where you'll handle money, invoices, and accounting records throughout your shift. There is occasional pressure to meet deadlines, and you'll regularly work with sensitive financial information.
