In this role, you'll lead your team, manage daily operations, and work closely with store leadership to ensure the department delivers the freshest, best quality product at a competitive price every single day.\nIf you're a driven leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment, takes pride in building great teams, and loves delivering an exceptional customer experience, we'd love to have you on our team.\nWhat You'll Do\nNo two days are exactly the same, but here's what you can expect:\nSet and uphold department standards for customer service, employee relations, cleanliness, sanitation, professional appearance, and overall profitability\n\nLead by example, greeting customers warmly, learning their names, and creating a friendly, welcoming atmosphere throughout the department\n\nRecruit, hire, train, supervise, discipline, and evaluate all department employees; approve employee discipline and recommend transfers, discharge, and salary increases\n\nDetermine department goals with the Store Director and establish weekly schedules and daily work plans\n\nInspect signage and displays for quality and quantity of merchandise and order product for replenishment\n\nFigure retail pricing, extend and post invoices, and oversee department bookkeeping procedures\n\nAnalyze weekly and monthly sales trends, compare to actuals, prepare ad projections, and write ads\n\nPlan displays, promotions, and pre-orders and conduct department inventory\n\nEnsure proper temperatures and storage procedures are maintained to guarantee product freshness and control shrink\n\nUnderstand and troubleshoot equipment and ensure maintenance is performed as needed\n\nWork closely with Restaurant and Service staff and communicate sales ideas and updates to the team\n\nUnload trucks, check in delivered merchandise, and place product in appropriate storage areas\n\nEnsure competitive pricing in the market area and attend meetings, seminars, and continuing education as needed\n\nMaintain strict adherence to personal hygiene, dress standards, and all Hy-Vee policies and store guidelines\n\nReport to work when scheduled and on time\n\nYour Skills\nTo be successful, you'll need to be able to:\nLead and develop a team, maintaining high standards and a positive, energetic work environment\n\nSolve practical problems and interpret instructions across a variety of situations with limited standardization\n\nCompose original correspondence, interpret written work instructions, and follow technical manuals\n\nConduct job applicant interviews and make sound hiring decisions\n\nUse math skills including fractions, decimals, and percentages for pricing, invoicing, and sales analysis\n\nCommunicate clearly and effectively with customers, employees, vendors, and store leadership\n\nReporting Relationships\nAccountable and Reports to: Store Director; Store Manager; Assistant Managers of Perishables, Store Operations, and Health Wellness Home; Food Service Director\nDirect Reports: Market Grille Express Employees\nEducation and Experience\nHigh school diploma or equivalent experience required; sanitation coursework helpful\n\nOver one year of related work experience required\n\nPhysical Requirements\nFrequently stand and walk throughout a shift in sales, food service, or delivery areas\n\nWhere applicable to the role: ability to safely use sharp knives and blades for food preparation\n\nWhere applicable to the role: exposure to heat- and burn-related hazards associated with cooking, baking, or grilling equipment\n\nWhere applicable to the role: ability to operate a delivery vehicle in accordance with applicable DOT standards\n\nPerform repetitive standing, walking, reaching, and bending associated with order fulfillment, POS transactions, and cleaning/sanitation duties\n\nWorking Environment\nThis is a fast-paced role in a store kitchen and restaurant environment where you'll be leading a team throughout your shift.
