In this role, you'll assist with a wide range of pharmacy functions while applying your nursing knowledge to deliver safe, high-quality service to every customer.\nIf you are a licensed RN who is passionate about community health, comfortable in a fast-paced retail environment, and committed to exceptional patient care, we'd love to have you on our team.\nWhat You'll Do\nNo two shifts are exactly the same, but here's what you can expect:\nProvide prompt, friendly customer service by greeting customers with a smile, learning their names, and making every interaction a positive one\n\nAdminister vaccines as allowed by law, including at offsite vaccination events as needed\n\nHandle customer inquiries that do not require a pharmacist's expertise and judgment\n\nAccept new written prescription orders and telephoned refill requests at the discretion of the supervising pharmacist\n\nContact doctor's offices to take or request refill prescriptions as needed\n\nGather and enter prescription and patient information into the computer and assist in maintaining correct patient information\n\nAssist pharmacists in preparing prescription drug products for dispensing\n\nPrepare and affix labels to prescription containers and prepare prescriptions to be mailed\n\nPrepare and submit insurance claims and assist with third-party insurance billing and troubleshooting\n\nFile prescriptions after they have been dispensed and report any medication errors to appropriate personnel\n\nOrder, check in, and stock pharmacy supplies and log invoices as necessary\n\nPerform cash transactions accurately\n\nMaintain the cleanliness of the pharmacy and dispensing area\n\nMaintain the confidentiality of customers' private medical information in accordance with HIPAA\n\nAdhere to all statutes and regulations pertaining to a registered nurse and pharmacy technician\n\nWork with co-workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment\n\nAssist in other areas of the store as needed and take on special projects as assigned\n\nMaintain strict adherence to personal hygiene, dress standards, and all Hy-Vee policies and store guidelines\n\nReport to work when scheduled and on time\n\nYour Skills\nApply logical and scientific thinking to solve problems involving both abstract and concrete variables\n\nPerform arithmetic, algebraic, and geometric calculations accurately\n\nCompose original correspondence, follow technical manuals, and evaluate technical data\n\nCounsel and advise patients and interact professionally with healthcare providers, team members, and store leadership\n\nMaintain a high level of discretion and integrity when handling confidential patient information\n\nReporting Relationships\nAccountable and Reports to: Store Director; Store Manager; Assistant Managers of Health Wellness Home, Store Operations, and Perishables; Pharmacy Department Manager; Staff Pharmacists\nEducation and Experience\nNursing degree required; must be licensed with the applicable State Nursing Board and/or possess multi-state licensure privileges upon hire\n\nValid driver's license with no DOT restrictions required for offsite vaccination events; must be 18 years or older to drive a company vehicle\n\nPhysical Requirements\nPhysical activity is incidental to the core duties of the role\n\nAbility to occasionally walk the floor or facility to observe operations, staff, or product\n\nAbility to occasionally handle product for demonstration purposes\n\nExposure to bloodborne pathogens and sharps (needles, lancets) associated with vaccine and immunization administration and other direct patient care duties\n\nNo regular lifting, carrying, or physical exertion required\n\nWorking Environment\nThis is a fast-paced role in a retail pharmacy where you will handle multiple tasks throughout your shift including vaccine administration, prescription support, and customer service. There is occasional exposure to hazardous chemicals or solvents during compounding, including chemotherapy drugs. When working offsite for vaccination events, you may be exposed to equipment movement hazards, temperature extremes, vibrations, and dampness.
