In this role, you'll assist customers, stock and order supplies, handle cash transactions, and help keep the pharmacy running smoothly and looking its best.\nIf you are detail-oriented, trustworthy, and passionate about helping people, we'd love to have you on our team.\nWhat You'll Do\nNo two shifts are exactly the same, but here's what you can expect:\nProvide prompt, friendly customer service by greeting customers with a smile, learning their names, and making every interaction a positive one\n\nAnswer the telephone promptly and provide friendly, helpful service to customers who call, including taking refill orders\n\nGather patient information required to prepare prescriptions\n\nStock received product and supplies and mark stickers accordingly, and keep pharmacy supplies well stocked\n\nReview prescriptions that have not been picked up as requested by the department manager\n\nOrder product and supplies at the department manager's request and review invoices on product received\n\nLog invoices as necessary and complete cash transactions accurately\n\nPrepare paperwork and compile medicine for delivery orders and mail-outs at the request of the department manager\n\nCoordinate nursing home medicines as necessary\n\nAdminister vaccines as allowed by law, with required certification where applicable\n\nClean the pharmacy, empty garbage, and remove trash in a timely manner to ensure a clean and inviting appearance\n\nMaintain the confidentiality of customers' private medical information at all times\n\nWork with co-workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment\n\nAssist in other areas of the store as needed and take on special projects as assigned\n\nMaintain strict adherence to personal hygiene, dress standards, and all Hy-Vee policies and store guidelines\n\nReport to work when scheduled and on time\n\nYour Skills\nTo be successful, you'll need to be able to:\nFollow written, verbal, or diagrammatic instructions with attention to detail\n\nAdd, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers accurately\n\nFile, post, and organize materials; copy data accurately between records; and gather basic information through customer interactions\n\nGuide customers and provide clear, helpful direction in a professional and compassionate manner\n\nMaintain a high level of discretion and integrity when handling confidential patient information\n\nReporting Relationships\nAccountable and Reports to: Store Director; Store Manager; Assistant Managers of Health Wellness Home, Store Operations, and Perishables; Pharmacy Department Manager; Pharmacists\nEducation and Experience\nHigh school diploma or equivalent experience required\n\nOver six months up to one year of similar or related experience preferred\n\nVaccination certification required if administering vaccines, as required by law\n\nPhysical Requirements\nAbility to frequently stand and walk throughout a shift in the pharmacy and dispensing area, including extended periods at a pharmacy counter or workstation while filling and processing prescriptions\n\nAbility to count, pour, package, and label medications, and fill prescriptions under pharmacist supervision, in accordance with state and federal pharmacy regulations\n\nExposure to bloodborne pathogens and sharps (needles, lancets) associated with pharmacy operations and, where certified, immunization administration\n\nAbility to perform repetitive standing, walking, reaching, and bending associated with order fulfillment, POS transactions, and cleaning/sanitation duties\n\nWorking Environment\nThis is a fast-paced role in a pharmacy environment with daily exposure to noise and significant pressure to meet deadlines. There is occasional exposure to hazardous chemicals or solvents during compounding, including chemotherapy drugs. This pharmacy handles and prepares hazardous drugs; personnel of reproductive capability should be aware that exposure may cause acute and chronic effects, and that following all pharmacy policies and procedures is essential to minimizing risk.
