We promise “a helpful smile in every aisle” and those smiles can only come from a workforce that is fully engaged and committed to supporting our customers and each other.\nJob Description:\nJob Title: Refrigeration Technician I\nDepartment: Perishable Maintenance\nFLSA: Non-Exempt\nGeneral Function\nUnder general supervision, performing, refrigeration operations and preventative maintenance and repair throughout the warehouse. Provide maintenance support as necessary to ensure operational objective are met. Perform basic troubleshooting and repair of industrial mechanical and electrical systems as needed.\nReporting Relations\nAccountable and Reports to: Maintenance Manager(s)\nPositions that Report to you: None\nPrimary Duties and Responsibilities\nOperates and performs repairs of refrigeration system including Ice Plant and Banana Rooms. Monitor system performance and determine when system in not operating correctly.\n\nPerforms routine maintenance on various types of warehouse equipment in accordance with OSHA Standards.\n\nTests, maintains and evaluates equipment performance using instruments such as multi-meters.\n\nMaintains tools and machinery in good condition and use tools and equipment carefully as instructed.\n\nTroubleshoots equipment and recommends corrective action.\n\nConducts tests of safety equipment to ensure OHSA and operational standards.\n\nMaintains accurate preventive maintenance record.\n\nPerforms other maintenance related work and job assignments as required.\n\nReport to work when scheduled and on time.\n\nKnowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Worker Characteristics\nKnowledge of general refrigeration practices.\n\nStrong communication and interpersonal skills.\n\nMathematical and documentation skills necessary.\n\nAbility to work with hands in mechanically oriented situations.\n\nAbility to follow verbal and written instructions.\n\nProficient use of testing equipment.\n\nMust be able to work flexible shifts is required, including on call.\n\nAbility to troubleshoot and diagnose down to the component level on all refrigeration equipment.\n\nShare knowledge, train and support the development of others.\n\nEducation and Experience\nHigh School diploma or GED required.\n\n2 years combined Refrigeration and/or Maintenance experience (relevant Technical School Certification program and/or Associates Degree program considered in lieu of employment experience).\n\nRequired to successfully complete assigned Industrial Refrigeration and/or mechanical-electrical courses.\n\nRequired to train in HAZMAT, obtain and maintain the certification.\n\nBasic computer skills required (email, internet searches, basic data entry, etc.).\n\nWorking Conditions\nMay be required to tolerate working environment with inside controlled temperatures of -20 degrees Fahrenheit and outside ambient temperatures (including heat, cold and precipitation).\n\nMust be able to climb ladders and stairs.\n\nFrequently required to stand; walk; push; pull; reach with hands and arms; stoop; kneel and crouch.\n\nMust frequently lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.\n\nMust be able to use hand and power tools.\n\nSpecific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and depth perception. Either naturally or with the aid of eyeglasses (use of contacts are prohibited when working with ammonia).\n\nEquipment Used to Perform Job\nMust provide own hand tools.
