From unloading trucks and rotating product to assisting customers and keeping the store tidy, your work has a direct impact on the shopping experience our customers count on every visit.\nIf you enjoy staying active, take pride in doing things right, and like being part of a team that keeps things running smoothly, this could be a great fit for you.\nWhat You'll Do\nNo two shifts are exactly the same, but here's what you can expect:\nDeliver outstanding customer service by greeting customers warmly and helping them find what they need throughout the store\n\nAssist customers with finding products, reaching items, carrying heavy purchases, and passing along any feedback or requests to the team\n\nUnload trucks, open containers, stock shelves, run overstock on risers, and rotate product to ensure freshness\n\nMonitor for mis-picked items, product outs, and wrong deliveries, and report issues accordingly\n\nOrganize stock for greatest efficiency and clean and restock any damaged items\n\nTag shelves with overstock in the back room and understock drawers\n\nReport new or different items to the scanning coordinator for system input\n\nOperate the register for customer purchases as needed\n\nStock supplies including cigarettes, front-end sacks, and department supplies\n\nAssist with outside maintenance including shoveling snow, spreading ice melt, and returning carts\n\nHelp with cleaning throughout the store including registers, restrooms, breakroom, and backroom\n\nTrain new stockers on job duties as needed\n\nMaintain compliance with Hy-Vee's dress code, hygiene standards, and all company policies\n\nAssist in other store areas and take on special projects as needed\n\nYou'll receive direction and support from: Store Director, Store Manager, Assistant Managers of Store Operations, Perishables, and Health Wellness Home, and Service Managers\n\nYour Skills\nYou don't need prior experience for this role! We'll happily train and support you as you grow. To be successful, you'll need to be able to:\nFollow written and verbal instructions with confidence\n\nUse basic math skills, including fractions, decimals, and percentages\n\nCommunicate clearly with customers and teammates in a friendly, helpful way\n\nStay organized and keep up with the pace of a busy store environment\n\nHigh school diploma or equivalent required; up to six months of similar or related experience preferred\n\nReporting Relationships\nAccountable and Reports to: Store Director, Store Manager, Assistant Managers of Store Operations, Perishables, Health and Wellness Home, and Service Managers\nEducation and Experience\nHigh school diploma or equivalent required\n\nUp to six months of similar or related work experience preferred\n\nPhysical Requirements\nAbility to frequently stand and walk throughout a shift in sales, food service, or delivery areas\n\nAbility to safely use sharp knives and blades for food preparation\n\nExposure to heat- and burn-related hazards associated with cooking, baking, or grilling equipment\n\nAbility to operate a delivery vehicle in accordance with applicable DOT standards\n\nExposure to bloodborne pathogens in pharmacy roles involving dispensing medications or administering immunizations\n\nAbility to perform repetitive standing, walking, reaching, and bending associated with order fulfillment, POS transactions, and cleaning/sanitation duties\n\nWorking Environment\nThis is a physically demanding, hands-on role performed throughout the store. You may encounter daily exposure to dirt, noise, equipment movement hazards, and cleaning chemicals or solvents, with occasional exposure to temperature extremes and potential electrical shock. The role involves working with and around heavy store equipment.
