Your attention to food safety, freshness, and customer service makes a real difference in the experience our customers have every time they visit.\nIf you take pride in working with food, enjoy a fast-paced environment, and love making customers happy, this could be a great fit for you.\nWhat You'll Do\nNo two shifts are exactly the same, but here's what you can expect:\nDeliver outstanding customer service by greeting customers warmly, learning their names, and going the extra mile to make every visit a positive one\n\nTake customer orders at the counter and over the phone, and assist customers with finding products, reaching items, and carrying heavy purchases\n\nReview daily orders and monitor product freshness, appearance, and supply levels throughout your shift\n\nPrepare, finish, and replenish product as needed, pulling items from the cooler or freezer for preparation\n\nFollow and maintain proper sanitation procedures, keeping your work area clean and organized at all times\n\nCheck in product, put product away, label and date items accurately, and remove trash promptly\n\nAnticipate daily product needs and follow or develop a production list to stay ahead\n\nOrder product and supplies as necessary\n\nWork alongside your teammates to ensure a smooth, positive experience for every customer\n\nMaintain compliance with Hy-Vee's dress code, hygiene standards, and all company policies\n\nAssist in other store areas and take on special projects as needed\n\nYou'll receive direction and support from: Store Director, Store Manager, Assistant Managers of Store Operations, Perishables, and Health Wellness Home, Food Service Director, Hy-Chi Department Manager, Assistant Hy-Chi Department Manager, and Service Managers\n\nYour Skills\nTo be successful in this role, you'll need to be able to:\nFollow written and verbal instructions with confidence\n\nUse basic math skills for simple addition, subtraction, counting, and recording\n\nCommunicate clearly with customers and teammates in a friendly, helpful way\n\nStay organized and keep up with the pace of a busy department\n\nHigh school diploma or equivalent required; Food Safety Certification required; six months or more of similar or related experience preferred\n\nReporting Relationships\nAccountable and Reports to: Store Director, Store Manager, Assistant Managers of Store Operations, Perishables, and Health Wellness Home, Food Service Director, Hy-Chi Department Manager, Assistant Hy-Chi Department Manager, and Service Managers\nEducation and Experience\nHigh school diploma or equivalent required\n\nFood Safety Certification required\n\nSix months of similar or related experience preferred\n\nPhysical Requirements\nFrequently stand and walk throughout a shift in sales, food service, or delivery areas\n\nWhere applicable to the role: ability to safely use sharp knives and blades for food preparation\n\nWhere applicable to the role: exposure to heat- and burn-related hazards associated with cooking, baking, or grilling equipment\n\nWhere applicable to the role: ability to operate a delivery vehicle in accordance with applicable DOT standards\n\nPerform repetitive standing, walking, reaching, and bending associated with order fulfillment, POS transactions, and cleaning/sanitation duties\n\nWorking Environment\nThis is a fast-paced role with significant activity throughout your shift.
