As the final inspector before product hits the floor, you'll wrap, weigh, label, and stock with care and precision, ensuring our customers always find fresh, beautifully presented bakery items.\nIf you are detail-oriented, take pride in presentation, and enjoy being part of a hardworking bakery team, we'd love to have you on board.\nWhat You'll Do\nNo two shifts are exactly the same, but here's what you can expect:\nProvide prompt, friendly customer service by greeting customers with a smile, learning their names, and making every interaction a positive one\n\nWrap, weigh, and label product accurately and apply merchandising labels\n\nStock cases and rotate product with an emphasis on presentation\n\nServe as the final inspector of product before it is displayed, ensuring quality and appearance standards are met\n\nEnsure signage is correct and that all advertised items are available, informing the Bakery Manager of any out-of-stock products\n\nTake customer orders at the bakery counter and answer the telephone promptly\n\nAssist the designer by decorating and writing on cakes in the designer's absence\n\nAssist the baker with pulling product from the freezer and dropping cookies, donuts, and similar items\n\nPractice proper sanitation procedures and keep the work area clean and organized at all times\n\nWork with co-workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment\n\nAssist in other areas of the store as needed and take on special projects as assigned\n\nMaintain strict adherence to personal hygiene, dress standards, and all Hy-Vee policies and store guidelines\n\nReport to work when scheduled and on time\n\nYour Skills\nFollow written, verbal, or diagrammatic instructions with attention to detail\n\nAdd, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers accurately\n\nUnderstand and follow verbal or demonstrated directions and communicate supply needs orally or in writing\n\nWork effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced bakery environment\n\nReporting Relationships\nAccountable and Reports to: Store Director; Store Manager; Assistant Managers of Perishables, Store Operations, and Health Wellness Home; Bakery Department Manager; Baker; Apprentice Baker\nEducation and Experience\nHigh school diploma or equivalent required; Hy-Vee Food Safety program required\n\nSix months or less of similar or related work experience preferred\n\nPhysical Requirements\nFrequently stand and walk throughout a shift in sales, food service, or delivery areas\n\nWhere applicable to the role: ability to safely use sharp knives and blades for food preparation\n\nWhere applicable to the role: exposure to heat- and burn-related hazards associated with cooking, baking, or grilling equipment\n\nWhere applicable to the role: ability to operate a delivery vehicle in accordance with applicable DOT standards\n\nPerform repetitive standing, walking, reaching, and bending associated with order fulfillment, POS transactions, and cleaning/sanitation duties\n\nWorking Environment\nThis is a fast-paced role in a bakery environment where you will be on your feet throughout your shift. You will have continual exposure to cool temperatures and dampness, with frequent noise and occasional exposure to cleaning solvents and potential electrical hazards.
