In this role, you'll educate customers about our wine, spirits, and beer products, keep the department stocked and beautifully presented, and make sure every transaction is smooth and every customer leaves happy.\nIf you enjoy working with people, take pride in product knowledge, and thrive in a fast-paced retail environment, we'd love to have you on our team.\nWhat You'll Do\nNo two shifts are exactly the same, but here's what you can expect:\nProvide prompt, friendly customer service by greeting customers with a smile, learning their names, and making every interaction a positive one\n\nEducate customers about wine, spirits, and beer products and help them find the right selection for any occasion\n\nOperate the cash register accurately and process all customer transactions at the point of purchase\n\nRotate, face, and replenish merchandise and ensure the highest quality standards are met throughout the department\n\nMaintain displays in the department and throughout the store and build new displays as needed\n\nCheck in product, put product away, and review invoices as needed\n\nUnderstand and follow all local, state, and company policies on the sale of alcohol\n\nAssist with inventory and order product at the supervisor's request\n\nRemove trash in a timely manner and maintain a clean, sanitary work area\n\nAnswer the telephone promptly and provide friendly, helpful service to customers who call\n\nWork with co-workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment\n\nAssist in other areas of the store as needed and take on special projects as assigned\n\nMaintain strict adherence to personal hygiene, dress standards, and all Hy-Vee policies and store guidelines\n\nReport to work when scheduled and on time\n\nYour Skills\nFollow detailed written or verbal instructions and work through tasks with a few concrete variables\n\nPerform simple addition and subtraction, copy figures, and count and record accurately\n\nUnderstand and follow verbal or demonstrated directions and communicate supply needs orally or in writing\n\nWork effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment\n\nReporting Relationships\nAccountable and Reports to: General Manager; Assistant General Manager; Wine Specialist; Spirits Specialist; Beer Specialist\nEducation and Experience\nNo education requirement; over six months up to one year of similar or related work experience preferred\n\nMust be at least 21 years of age\n\nPhysical Requirements\nFrequently stand and walk throughout a shift in sales, food service, or delivery areas\n\nWhere applicable to the role: ability to safely use sharp knives and blades for food preparation\n\nWhere applicable to the role: exposure to heat- and burn-related hazards associated with cooking, baking, or grilling equipment\n\nWhere applicable to the role: ability to operate a delivery vehicle in accordance with applicable DOT standards\n\nPerform repetitive standing, walking, reaching, and bending associated with order fulfillment, POS transactions, and cleaning/sanitation duties\n\nWorking Environment\nThis is a fast-paced role in a retail store environment where you will be on your feet throughout your shift. You will have occasional exposure to dirt, cleaning solvents, and equipment movement hazards, as well as exposure to temperature extremes and dampness.
