In this role, you'll supervise the team, manage inventory, work with vendors, and ensure the department runs smoothly and looks its best every day.\nIf you are a motivated, organized leader who takes pride in a well-run store and loves delivering an exceptional customer experience, we'd love to have you on our team.\nWhat You'll Do\nNo two days are exactly the same, but here's what you can expect:\nProvide prompt, friendly customer service by greeting customers with a smile, learning their names, and going out of your way to make every visit a great one\n\nSupervise and assign work for the evening and part-time crew and train new employees\n\nStock, rotate, and face product on shelves and review out-of-stocks, ad items, and back stock\n\nOrder merchandise as directed by the department head and control inventory\n\nMonitor sales regularly and make sales suggestions and ideas to the General Manager\n\nMeet with vendors to obtain point-of-purchase materials and other sales-enhancing items\n\nPrice items for displays and review price tags, updating signage as needed\n\nHandle and resolve customer issues with care and professionalism\n\nUnload trucks and ensure product is stocked in the appropriate area\n\nClean display cases and monitor maintenance of equipment and floors\n\nAssume management duties in the absence of the Department Manager\n\nInstruct, assign, and review the work of Cashiers and all Associates, maintaining standards and coordinating activities\n\nPractice proper sanitation procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area at all times\n\nAssist in other areas of the store as needed and take on special projects as assigned\n\nAdhere to all Hy-Vee policies and store guidelines\n\nReport to work when scheduled and on time\n\nYour Skills\nFollow written, verbal, or diagrammatic instructions with attention to detail\n\nPerform arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages\n\nFile, post, and organize materials; copy data accurately between records; and gather basic information through interviews\n\nGuide and direct team members clearly and provide basic direction with confidence\n\nWork effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced retail environment\n\nReporting Relationships\nAccountable and Reports to: General Manager\nDirect Reports: Cashiers; All Associates\nEducation and Experience\nHigh school diploma or equivalent experience required\n\nSix months or less of related work experience preferred\n\nPhysical Requirements\nFrequently stand and walk throughout a shift in sales, food service, or delivery areas\n\nWhere applicable to the role: ability to safely use sharp knives and blades for food preparation\n\nWhere applicable to the role: exposure to heat- and burn-related hazards associated with cooking, baking, or grilling equipment\n\nWhere applicable to the role: ability to operate a delivery vehicle in accordance with applicable DOT standards\n\nPerform repetitive standing, walking, reaching, and bending associated with order fulfillment, POS transactions, and cleaning/sanitation duties\n\nWorking Environment\nThis is a fast-paced role in a retail store environment where you will be on your feet throughout your shift. You will have continuous exposure to noise, temperature extremes, and dampness, with frequent exposure to equipment movement hazards and cleaning chemicals or solvents, and occasional potential for electrical hazards.
