At Hybron, we have pioneered a new composites manufacturing process that enables complex, high performance composite parts to be produced 10-100 times faster than traditional manufacturing, at a fraction of the cost.\nWe recently closed an oversubscribed $25M seed round, are backed by the Northrop Grumman Technology Accelerator, and are rapidly growing to commercialize and mass produce composite products at a scale never seen before. Our current focus is applying our proprietary process to composite artillery shells, solid rocket motor nozzles, gas turbine engine components, and airframes.\nIf you want to join a rapidly growing company working on cutting edge composites technology while building capabilities for the warfighter and reshoring U.S. manufacturing, then we want to speak with you.\nAbout the Role\nThis is a full-time, in-person role at our Hawthorne facility. The length of the internship will be at least 10 weeks.\nAs you will be working at an early-stage deep tech startup, this role will span many different tasks. You will need to be a self-starter and adaptable to performing many different jobs. Along with these high expectations comes the opportunity to significantly influence the product development and trajectory of a fast-growing startup company.\nThe objective of this internship is to provide you with experience with Hybron’s composites manufacturing process and technology while also providing you with the opportunity to work on impactful engineering projects that will truly support the company’s development. While not guaranteed, our goal is to provide a return offer for a follow-up internship or a full-time position upon observance of strong performance during the internship.\nYou will be assigned one or a few major projects throughout your internship. This may include but is not limited to any of the following:\nDesign, model, and tolerance composite parts and/or tooling for a specific application\nPrepare & lay up raw composite materials and fabricate & process composite parts\nFabricate tooling, which could be made from steel, aluminum, plastic, composite, or other materials\nOperate, set up, and/or perform maintenance on various machines, including presses, ovens, CNC machines, general machine shop tools, 3D printers, impregnation machines, CT/UT scanners and material test machines\nPerform mechanical, cosmetic, non-destructive, and destructive testing of parts with calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other measurement tools\nDesign and/or execute experiments for different materials (fibers and resins) and manufacturing processes\nDesign and/or build automated systems and robots for various manufacturing processes\nWhat we’re looking for\nMust be a U.S. Person pursuant to EAR and ITAR definitions\nAny student attending or recently graduated from university in Summer 2027 is invited to apply! This includes rising college sophomore through Spring/Summer 2027 graduate\nBasic experience with manufacturing parts, whether from composite, metal, plastic, wood, etc.\nRapid prototyping experience with an action-bias and growth mindset\nStrong collaboration and communication skills\nCapable of giving, receiving, and integrating feedback, with self-awareness and a positive attitude\nPassion for working on cutting-edge products and manufacturing technology, especially in the aerospace and defense industries\n Nice to HavesRising senior or graduating senior status is preferred\nCAD proficiency\nExperience with composite part/tooling design and DFM\nMachine shop experience with running saws, drill presses, mills/lathes, etc.\nCNC programming and operating experience\nExperience with electronics, robotics, and mechanical systems\nExperience with material characterization (mechanical, thermal)\nCompensation and Schedule\n$35 per hour\nHousing stipend available\nMondays - Fridays\nBeing in person during the standard schedule is expected daily\nHybron is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
