This role serves as a strategic partner to facility leadership, driving workforce planning, labor relations, employee engagement, talent acquisition, performance management, and compliance to support business objectives. The HR Manager will also play a key role in fostering a high-performance culture while mitigating risks.\nWhat you will be doing\n\nWorkforce Planning & Talent Development\nLead workforce planning, succession planning, and talent development initiatives.\nIdentify training needs and drive employee development, apprenticeships, and upskilling programs.\nCoach leaders to strengthen people management and leadership capabilities.\nEmployee Relations & Engagement\nServe as a trusted advisor for employee relations matters, conflict resolution, and workplace concerns.\nFoster an inclusive, high-engagement culture that supports retention and employee satisfaction.\nAnalyze engagement feedback and implement improvement plans.\nRecruitment & Onboarding\nPartner with recruiting teams to attract, hire, and onboard top talent.\nSupport recruitment activities, including interviews, candidate selection, and workforce planning.\nEnsure a seamless onboarding experience for new hires.\nPerformance Management\nLead performance management processes, including goal setting, evaluations, and development planning.\nGuide leaders on performance improvement and employee development initiatives.\nCompensation, Benefits & HR Operations\nOversee payroll, benefits administration, leave management, and HR processes.\nCollaborate with shared services and business partners to ensure efficient HR operations.\nPromote employee recognition and engagement programs.\nStrategic HR Leadership\nAlign HR strategies with business objectives and operational needs.\nUse HR metrics and workforce insights to drive business decisions and continuous improvement.\nLead change management and organizational development initiatives.\nCompliance & Labor Relations\nEnsure compliance with employment laws, company policies, and labor agreements.\nManage labor relations activities, including grievance resolution and collective bargaining where applicable.\nConduct workplace investigations and maintain employee confidentiality.\nLeadership\nLead and develop HR team members through coaching, mentoring, and performance management.\nBuild a high-performing HR function that delivers consistent, value-added support to the business.\nWhat will make you successful?\nRequired Education/Experience:\nBachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required; Master’s degree preferred - or equivalent professional experience.\n7+ years of HR experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment, including at least 2 years in a unionized setting (if applicable).\nExperience in collective bargaining, workforce planning, HR compliance, and talent management required.\nPreferred Skills/Qualifications:\nSHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR, Certified Labor Relations Professional (CLRP) or other union/labor relations certifications a plus.\nEqual opportunities\nHydro in North America is an Equal Opportunity Employer where all phases of employment are based strictly upon the qualifications of the individual as related to the work requirements of the position.
