This position works closely with employees, supervisors, and management to ensure compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, and Hydro's commitment to maintaining a safe and environmentally responsible workplace. The HSE Coordinator promotes a proactive safety culture through training, audits, inspections, incident investigations, and employee engagement.\nKey Responsibilities\nSafety & Health\nSupport and administer facility health and safety programs to ensure compliance with OSHA/MIOSHA regulations and company standards.\nConduct routine workplace inspections, audits, and hazard assessments.\nAssist with incident investigations, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and follow-up activities.\nTrack and report safety metrics, including near misses, first aid cases, recordable incidents, and corrective actions.\nCoordinate and facilitate safety meetings, toolbox talks, and employee training programs.\nMaintain safety records, documentation, and regulatory reporting requirements.\nSupport contractor safety management and visitor safety processes.\nAssist in administering lockout/tagout, confined space, hot work, machine guarding, PPE, and other safety programs.\nPromote employee engagement through safety committees, observations, and continuous improvement initiatives.\nPromote and support the safety delegate program.\nEnvironmental Compliance\nAssist in maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations.\nSupport environmental inspections, audits, and permit compliance activities.\nMaintain environmental records, reports, and documentation.\nAssist with waste management, recycling programs, spill prevention, and environmental training.\nParticipate in environmental incident investigations and corrective action implementation.\nTraining & Employee Development\nCoordinate new hire safety orientation and onboarding activities.\nSchedule, track, and maintain employee safety training records.\nSupport annual refresher training and regulatory compliance training requirements.\nAssist in developing training materials, procedures, and work instructions.\nContinuous Improvement\nParticipate in risk assessments, job hazard analyses, and safety improvement projects.\nSupport 5S, Lean Manufacturing, and continuous improvement initiatives.\nAssist departments in identifying opportunities to reduce safety risks and improve environmental performance.\nHelp drive a culture of accountability, engagement, and operational excellence.\nWHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR\nAssociate degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Technology, or related field preferred.\nMinimum of 2 years of safety, environmental, manufacturing, or industrial experience preferred.\nKnowledge of OSHA/MIOSHA regulations and workplace safety practices.\nUnderstanding of environmental compliance requirements is preferred.\nExperience conducting inspections, audits, and incident investigations.\nProficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.\nExperience with training coordination and recordkeeping systems preferred.\nWHAT WILL MAKE YOU SUCCESSFUL\nStrong communication and interpersonal skills.\nAbility to influence and engage employees at all levels of the organization.\nExcellent organizational and documentation skills.\nStrong analytical and problem-solving abilities.\nAbility to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.\nAttention to detail and commitment to regulatory compliance.\nAbility to work independently and as part of a team.\nPhysical Requirements\nAbility to walk throughout a manufacturing facility for extended periods.\nAbility to climb stairs, ladders, and access production areas.\nAbility to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.\nAbility to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).\nAbility to work in varying temperatures and manufacturing environments.\nPreferred Certifications\nOSHA 30-Hour Certification\nFirst Aid/CPR Certification\nEnvironmental compliance training or certifications\nWHAT WE OFFER\nHighly competitive pay, comprehensive benefits on day one of employment and 120 hours of paid time off your first full year of employment\nOpportunity to lead and shape HSE strategy in a growing, state-of-the-art facility\nA strong safety-first culture backed by global standards and leadership support\nCompetitive compensation and comprehensive benefits package\nCareer growth and development opportunities within a global organization\nExposure to best practices and collaboration across Hydro’s international network\nWork Environment\nManufacturing plant environment with exposure to noise, moving equipment, and varying temperatures\nRequired use of personal protective equipment (PPE)\nAdditional Information:\nThis position may have indirect leadership responsibility and influence across all departments\nMust be authorized to work in the United States\nDuties and responsibilities may evolve based on business needs\nHydro in North America is an Equal Opportunity Employer where all phases of employment are based strictly upon the qualifications of the individual as related to the work requirements of the position.
