This role involves conducting risk assessments, providing training, and maintaining accurate records to promote a culture of safety and environmental responsibility. Environmental compliance monitoring is a priority for this position, including supporting sustainable practices and projects. The HSE Manager will report to the Operations Manager.\nPay Range: $120,000 - $130,000\nWhat you will be doing\nDevelop and implement company-wide safety programs, policies, and procedures, ensuring effective communication to all employees. Promptly alert management to serious safety issues and collaborate on effective solutions.\nEnsure that management completes accident investigations and prepares serious incident reports accurately.\nSupport environmental recordkeeping and administration, including compliance with permits, operating conditions, sampling, and regulatory standards.\nCarry out internal self-assessments or audits for compliance checks with ISO standards.\nMaintain multi-site ISO 14001:2015 and 45001:2018 certifications.\nMaintain current and accurate information on the company’s Incident Management System website. Keep safety records, including training, evacuations, and accident and incident records.\nIdentify and assist in correcting unsafe conditions within the company. Conduct and manage risk assessments as necessary.\nManage and maintain inventory levels of critical PPE, including FR-rated and aluminized protective garments.\nConduct periodic environmental health and safety inspections. Support department managers and supervisors in following action plans to resolve safety and environmental issues.\nDevelop and provide company-wide training to employees in accordance with OH&S Act, OSHA, environmental regulations, and company standards. Co-chair Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) meetings, manage WSIB claims in collaboration with HR and return to work, manage the Early Safe Return to Work (ESRTW) program (non-work related and WSIB).\nCoach site leadership and personnel to a HSE interdependent culture.\nPerform other duties as assigned.\nWhat will make you successful?\nRequired Education/Experience:\nBA/BS degree in Occupational Safety and Health Management, Environmental Sciences, Engineering or related field.\nMinimum 5 years progressive HSE responsibilities in a manufacturing environment\nExperience in training course development, computer-based training programs and training tracking systems.\nMust have working knowledge of Canadian occupational safety legislation (OH&S Act) and environmental reporting and regulations. Knowledge of Canada occupational health and safety (CCOHS) and environmental (ECCC) regulations and recordkeeping is a strong asset.\nAdministration and working knowledge of ISO14001:2015, 45001:2019.\nCRSP certification is a plus\nPreferred Skills/Qualifications:\nEffective communication skills with co-workers, supervisors, and managers in both written and verbal forms; must exhibit a professional and positive approach.\nExperience with Behaviour-Based Safety (BBS) programs, Lean/Continuous Improvement/Six Sigma training/certification, and 5S training/certification is advantageous.\nProficiency with leading office software programs (e.g., Excel, Word, and Access).\nAdherence to Health, Safety & Environmental requirements.\nCompliance with company rules, policies, and procedures.\nUnderstanding that performing job tasks safely is the highest priority.\nAbility to stand or sit for extended periods.\nOccasional bending, reaching, grasping, and lifting of 5-25 lbs.\nNecessary hearing, vision, and speech capabilities to perform all job functions.\nEqual opportunities\nHydro in North America is an Equal Opportunity Employer where all phases of employment are based strictly upon the qualifications of the individual as related to the work requirements of the position.
