And as Ontario’s largest municipally-owned producer of green power, we are leading the way to a greener tomorrow.\nWe are seeking a Distribution Engineer, Intake, a strategic thinker who can take initiatives from concept to completion and engineer the way to a smart energy future.\nAre you ready to make a difference in our community?\nJOB SUMMARY\nReporting to the Supervisor, Distribution Intake, the Distribution Engineer, Intake serves as the technical liaison during project initiation, providing expertise and support to the Design Intake team with technical triage, scoping, and customer response. This role ensures technical accuracy and initial engineering integrity of all documentation prior to transitioning projects from initiation to design. The Distribution Engineer, Intake analyzes and maps present-state and future-state workflows, collaborating with cross-divisional partners to standardize intake responses and associated service levels. Additionally, the role prepares, updates, and maintains design guidelines in collaboration with the Design and Standards department, serving as a core technical anchor for implementing the Hydro Ottawa Project Delivery Model across various engineering sub-disciplines.\nMAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES\nGuide and support the Design Intake team with technical triage, scoping, and customer response, ensuring project documentation is technically sound, compliant, and complete prior to transitioning to design.\nAnalyze, document, and map present-state and future-state engineering workflows to optimize and standardize the intake process.\nCollaborate closely with cross-divisional partners to standardize technical intake responses and associated service levels.\nPrepare, update, and maintain comprehensive design guideline documentation in direct consultation with Design and Standards.\nServe as the technical expert and cornerstone for embedding and governing the Project Delivery Model (PDM) across various engineering sub-disciplines.\nProvide technical guidance, engineering support, and recommendations to internal teams, external customers, and project partners during the scoping and initiation project phases.\nFacilitate continuous process improvement initiatives to streamline project transitions from intake to design.\nLead and participate in special projects and perform other duties as required.\nEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE\nUndergraduate degree in Engineering from an accredited university\nLicensed Professional Engineer, or able to be licensed in the province of Ontario\nDemonstrated knowledge of distribution system design, engineering practices, and standards\nStrong time management, organization, and communication skills required\nExperience in process mapping, workflow documentation, or Lean Six Sigma frameworks considered an asset\nExperience in an electric utility or utility standards environment considered an asset\nStrong computer skills; proficient in the use of office productivity and collaboration tools, preferably Google Workspace\nStrong understanding of Customer Relationship Management (CRM) programs, with Salesforce experience considered an asset \nADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS\nEnglish essential, both oral and written; Bilingual (English/French) considered an asset\nThis is a management group opportunity and salary will be commensurate with qualifications.\nHydro Ottawa offers a Hybrid Work Model.
