Join us in building a platform that empowers innovators everywhere to turn their visionary AI projects into reality.\nAbout the Role\nWe are seeking a highly technical Vice President of Infrastructure to build and scale the foundational infrastructure powering our AI cloud platform.\nThis is a hands-on executive leadership role. While you will own infrastructure strategy, organizational growth, and executive-level decision making, we expect you to remain deeply engaged in architecture, design, and engineering execution. You should expect to spend approximately 30-40% of your time directly contributing to technical design, architecture reviews, debugging critical production issues, and partnering with engineers on implementation.\nThe ideal candidate has previously built and scaled cloud platforms, preferably GPU-native cloud infrastructure supporting AI training and inference workloads. You have experience operating at the intersection of executive leadership and hands-on engineering and are excited to help build both the technology and the team.\nWhat You'll Own\nCloud Infrastructure Architecture\nLead the design and evolution of our AI cloud platform\n\nDefine the architecture for GPU orchestration, compute scheduling, networking, storage, and distributed systems\n\nMake critical decisions regarding cloud infrastructure, bare-metal deployments, and platform scalability\n\nPersonally participate in architecture reviews and key technical initiatives\n\nGPU Cloud Platform\nBuild and scale large GPU clusters supporting customer workloads\n\nDesign systems for GPU provisioning, scheduling, utilization optimization, and capacity management\n\nDrive platform reliability and performance for AI training and inference workloads\n\nPartner closely with engineering teams on infrastructure requirements for next-generation AI systems\n\nTechnical Leadership\nRemain deeply involved in engineering decisions and technical direction\n\nContribute directly to infrastructure design and implementation efforts\n\nReview architecture proposals, system designs, and major infrastructure changes\n\nAct as the technical escalation point for complex infrastructure challenges\n\nInfrastructure & Reliability\nEstablish best practices for Kubernetes, observability, CI/CD, security, and operational excellence\n\nBuild SRE and Platform Engineering functions from the ground up\n\nDefine reliability standards including SLOs, SLIs, incident response processes, and capacity planning\n\nDrive automation across infrastructure operations\n\nOrganizational Leadership\nRecruit and develop world-class Infrastructure, Platform, and SRE teams\n\nBuild a high-performance engineering culture focused on ownership and execution\n\nPartner with executive leadership on company strategy and infrastructure investments\n\nManage infrastructure budgets, vendor relationships, and capacity planning\n\nRequired Experience\nMust-Have Background\n12+ years building and operating large-scale infrastructure systems\n\nExperience leading infrastructure organizations while remaining hands-on technically\n\nPrevious experience building or operating a cloud platform at scale\n\nExperience building GPU infrastructure or AI/ML compute platforms\n\nProven track record scaling infrastructure in high-growth startup environments\n\nDeep Technical Expertise\nExpert-level Kubernetes knowledge\n\nExperience designing and operating multi-region cloud infrastructure\n\nStrong understanding of Linux, networking, distributed systems, and storage architecture\n\nExperience with Infrastructure-as-Code and automation frameworks\n\nDeep expertise in observability, monitoring, and reliability engineering\n\nExperience building highly available production systems\n\nStrongly Preferred\nExperience with GPU scheduling, Slurm, Kubernetes GPU operators, Ray, or distributed training systems\n\nExperience managing thousands of GPUs in production environments\n\nBackground supporting AI training and inference platforms\n\nHyperbolic is an equal opportunity employer.
