Senior Backend Engineer (Java)

We are seeking a hands-on Senior Backend Engineer with strong Java expertise and proven experience in performance optimization, high-traffic systems, bottleneck resolution, and backend scalability.

Ideal Candidate: A technically strong Java backend engineer who can independently identify performance issues, eliminate bottlenecks, and design systems capable of handling increasing traffic and transaction volumes without compromising reliability.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize scalable backend services and RESTful APIs using Java and Spring Boot.
• Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks involving application logic, database queries, resource utilization, and system architecture.
• Optimize backend systems to handle high transaction volumes, traffic spikes, and increasing workloads while maintaining performance and reliability.
• Design efficient database schemas and optimize SQL queries to improve response times and data integrity.
• Troubleshoot complex production issues, conduct root-cause analysis, and implement long-term solutions to prevent recurring problems.
• Improve system architecture, fault tolerance, and resource utilization to enhance scalability and stability.
• Implement unit testing, code reviews, and engineering best practices to ensure code quality and maintainability.

Requirements

• Strong hands-on experience in Java and Spring Boot, with a solid understanding of OOP, SOLID principles, and design patterns.
• Proven experience building and optimizing high-performance, scalable backend systems and RESTful APIs.
• Strong understanding of system design, concurrency, performance tuning, load handling, and scalability principles.
• Hands-on experience with SQL, relational databases, query optimization, indexing, and database performance tuning.
• Demonstrated ability to diagnose and resolve high-traffic issues, latency, throughput limitations, and system bottlenecks.
• Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills, with experience resolving complex production issues.
• Understanding of unit testing, performance testing, monitoring, logging, and production system reliability.
• Ability to take ownership of technical solutions and drive continuous backend performance improvements.

Good to Have

• Experience with microservices and distributed systems.
• Exposure to AWS, Linux, CI/CD, and deployment automation.
• Knowledge of caching, load balancing, asynchronous processing, and fault-tolerant system design.
• Experience with Golang, Node.js, or other backend technologies.
• Previous experience with banking or fintech domains
