I3Works is a consultancy business delivering project management (P3M), digital, and technology-centric management and support solutions.

Salary negotiable, Yearly bonus + Hybrid Working: Depending on experience. This is a key position within our business; we are looking for the right individual to help build our DevOps and Full Stack capability and offering across our i3Works business.

Overview:

i3Works is a dynamic P3M and Digital consultancy delivering high-impact outcomes across central government and complex programmes. As we continue to expand our digital capability, we are investing in strengthening our delivery of modern software engineering, DevOps, and product-aligned services.

This role represents a foundational hire within our SDLC and engineering capability, providing the opportunity to shape how i3Works approaches end-to-end software delivery-from design through to implementation and live service.

Role Summary:

The SDLC Consultant / Lead will act as a subject matter expert across the full software development lifecycle, combining hands-on technical capability with consulting expertise.

This individual will:

  • Act as the first senior engineering capability hire, shaping internal standards and offerings

  • Deliver into client environments in roles aligned to DevOps, Full Stack, or SDLC improvement

  • Support the development of a scalable capability, including frameworks, accelerators, and potential future team growth

  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a desire to build capability from the ground up

  • Comfortable operating as a sole specialist initially, with a view to scaling

  • Adaptable and delivery-focused across varied client environments

  • Collaborative and aligned with i3Works values and culture

The role blends:

  • Technical delivery (hands-on engineering where required)

  • Consulting (advisory, transformation, and delivery leadership)

  • Capability building (internal IP, services, and mentoring)

Key Responsibilities:

Client Delivery

  • Deliver into client roles across DevOps, Full Stack Engineering, or SDLC transformation

  • Design and implement modern development, CI/CD, and deployment practices

  • Support cloud-based delivery environments (e.g. AWS, Azure)

  • Improve development lifecycle efficiency, quality, and governance

  • Engage stakeholders to align technical delivery with programme outcomes

Capability Development

  • Define and evolve i3Works’ SDLC / engineering service offering

  • Develop reusable assets (patterns, playbooks, accelerators)

  • Shape delivery approaches across DevOps and Full Stack domains

  • Contribute to business development and solution design

Internal Contribution

  • Mentor and support colleagues developing technical capability

  • Support recruitment and onboarding of future engineers

  • Contribute to internal initiatives and continuous improvement

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Strong experience across software development lifecycle (SDLC) practices

  • Proven delivery in DevOps environments (CI/CD, IaC, automation)

  • Experience with full stack development (front-end + back-end technologies)

  • Strong understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or equivalent)

  • Experience working in Agile / product-led environments

  • Ability to operate in both technical and consulting contexts

  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills

Desirable Skills and Experience:

  • Experience in UK public sector or secure environments

  • Knowledge of DevSecOps, platform engineering, or SRE practices

  • Experience defining capability or service offerings

  • Familiarity with frameworks such as DDAT, GDS, or similar

  • Relevant certifications (cloud, DevOps, Agile, etc.)

  • Experience contributing to business development or bids

  • The suitable candidate will need National Security Vetting (NSV) security clearance. They will, preferably, already hold NSV to a high or very high standard, but must be able, and willing, to achieve it
