We need a team member who is ready to design, architect, and lead the implementation of innovative Power Platform and business intelligence solutions to support the missions of our customers. We have several large projects, some established, some just getting started, at the Department of Veterans Affairs and we need smart team members to help us deliver.\nThe successful candidate will be an inquisitive problem solver with the ability to quickly analyze the needs of specific projects and architect and implement effective solutions. In this fully remote role, you will lead the design of Power Apps interfaces and enterprise-scale reporting that leadership uses to measure program performance and contractor accountability, and guide the team toward creative solutions to our customers' challenges. architects.\nResponsibilities\nAnalyze customer needs and lead the development of the overall design concept and objectives with an eye to performance, usability, architecture, and security.\nDesign, build, and maintain Power Apps that serve as the user interface for a custom-developed, Azure-hosted enterprise system.\nLead the design of new Power Apps capabilities and enhancements to existing interfaces.\nArchitect Power BI data models, reports, and executive dashboards, including complex DAX measures and Power Query transformations.\nDesign local, regional, and national reporting using dashboards, charts, maps, and other visualization formats.\nDesign and oversee the integration and transformation of data from Microsoft SQL Server, enterprise data warehouses, and external partner data sources that refresh daily.\nOwn Power BI data gateway configuration, refresh strategy, and troubleshooting.\nLead data quality analysis to identify trends, outliers, and issues requiring upstream remediation, and coordinate remediation with data owners.\nDefine role-based access and row-level security patterns for applications and reports.\nEnsure applications and reports meet Section 508 accessibility requirements.\nOptimize report and data model performance for large datasets and high user volumes.\nLead requirements analysis and estimate level of effort.\nParticipate in quarterly PI Planning and lead backlog refinement with product owners.\nEstablish source control, branching, and deployment practices using Git (e.g., GitHub).\nCollaborate with product owners, business owners, technical leads, and solution architects to produce software design and architecture documents.\nSupport security and Authority to Operate (ATO) compliance activities.\nPerform code and design reviews of apps, reports, and data models.\nDevelop documentation throughout the software development life cycle (SDLC).\nMentor junior and mid-level developers and analysts.\nTAG: Power BI reports and dashboards\nAdvanced proficiency with DAX, Power Query (M), and data modeling for enterprise-scale datasets\nAdvanced proficiency with Microsoft SQL Server, T-SQL, and SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS), including query performance tuning\nExperience configuring and managing Power BI data gateways and refresh strategies\nExperience designing row-level security and role-based access models\nExperience with Git version control (e.g., GitHub), including branching strategies\nExperience developing Section 508-compliant applications and reports\nDemonstrated experience leading technical work and mentoring other developers\nMinimum three (3) years of experience working in an Agile framework\nAbility to communicate complex concepts effectively to technical and non-technical
