You will enable analytics, AI, and product teams through reliable, governed, and performant data systems. You will work closely with Data Scientists and Software Engineers to ensure data availability, consistency, and scalability across all business domains.\nKey Responsibilities\nData Platform Ownership\nOwn the architecture and roadmap for MiQ's Data Engineering ecosystem - ingestion, transformation, and modeling layers.\nLead the modernization of MiQ's big data stack (Spark, Databricks, AWS, OLAP/StarTree) for scalability and governance.\nDrive adoption of modular data models, versioned schemas, and lineage frameworks.\nPartner with Product, Analytics, Data Science, and Software Engineering teams to design scalable data solutions.\nDelivery & Execution\nManage multiple data engineering workstreams aligned with business priorities.\nEstablish SLAs, delivery processes, and DevOps best practices for data quality and reliability.\nImplement structured RCA, retrospectives, and continuous improvement processes.\nData Governance & Cost Efficiency\nPartner with Platform, Security, and Architecture teams to embed data governance and FinOps principles.\nDefine and enforce lineage tracking, access control, and cost optimization across workloads.\nPeople Leadership\nLead and mentor data engineers; define growth paths and technical direction.\nFoster a culture of accountability, experimentation, and continuous learning.\nInnovation & GenAI Adoption (Good to Have)\nExplore AI/GenAI tools for automation, optimization, and data documentation.\nPilot AI-driven solutions that enhance pipeline efficiency and data observability\nWhat you’ll bring\n\nExperience: 8+ years of total experience in Data Engineering, with at least 2+ years of people management or technical leadership in distributed data environments.\n\nTechnical Expertise: Strong hands-on background in Spark, Databricks, AWS (S3, Glue, Redshift, EC2), and modern ETL/ELT frameworks.\n\nArchitecture & Design: Proven experience in data modeling, data lakehouse architecture, and designing scalable, modular data pipelines for performance and maintainability.\n\nData Governance & Quality: Deep understanding of data lineage, schema management, validation frameworks, and governance standards (GDPR, SOC2, ISO).\n\nCloud & FinOps: Experience in cloud infrastructure optimization, cost management, and automation using Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar IaC tools.\n\nLeadership & People Development: Demonstrated ability to recruit, mentor, and grow high-performing engineering teams.
